🐾 Friends! It's Amazon Prime Days🐾

While we're not quite at SOS level, our shelves are definitely starting to look a little lighter than we'd like.

We're in the heart of kitten season and currently have over 100 kittens in foster care in addition to the many adult cats depending on us every day. Our fosters are incredible, and Sunrise provides food, litter, and supplies whenever needed so they can focus on saving lives.

Every bag of food, can of wet food, container of litter, and cleaning supply donated helps us keep our foster homes stocked and allows us to direct more of our funds toward what matters most— medical care for the cats and kittens who need it.

If you're taking advantage of Prime Days, would you consider sending an item or two from our wishlist?

Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference. ❤️

Everyone meet our feral tank of a cat - Hulk. Hulk has a funky eye and alopecia in a kind of comical way. He is missing hair in a way that makes it appear he is having a wardrobe malfunction with his pants. Hulk isn't adoptable per say but he is perfect to us.
Enjoy him playing a bit with a trust worthy volunteer.

Well said video about what animal shelter workers and volunteers experience 24/7.

Rightfully so, everyone thinks about the homeless pets, but little do people think about what it’s like being on the front lines of an active shelter crisis we’re experiencing throughout the US.

🐱Daily calls and messages from people asking for assistance in rehoming animals even though we’ve been act capacity for months

🐱Taking in animals not knowing if they’re going to make it through the night

🐱Having to ask the community for support and praying we can get what we need

It’s a lot. It’s exhausting. It’s worth it❤️

One thing about a shelter worker is that we’re going to show up. We’re going to complain, but we’re going to do the work no one else does.

We would like to thank Old School Computer Solutions for supplying us with new adoption office computer! 🥳🎉

This computer stopped working a few years ago and we’ve been using the vet office computer ever since. However, since our vet clinic is now operational, it’s been a little difficult for us to operate both the clinic and adoption center off of a single computer.

Naturally, we decided to do a little outsourcing and found a computer specialist right in our backyard (almost literally!) He came over and immediately helped us get back up and running.

If you have anything computer or tech related and want someone reliable, please consider Old School Computer Solutions❤️

💜 Breaking the Stigma Around Special Needs Pets 💜

There are countless special needs pets sitting in rescues waiting for families.

Waiting longer than everyone else.

Getting overlooked because they're blind. Because they're old. Because they have medical needs. Because people assume they need a quiet home, a perfect home, a home without children, without other pets, without chaos.

We've all heard the reasons.

"My house is too busy."

"My kids are too young."

"My dogs are too big."

"My other pets wouldn't understand."

And sometimes those assumptions mean wonderful animals spend months—or even years—waiting for a family that never comes.

Enter Addie.

Addie is completely blind. When she came to us, many would have assumed she needed a calm, quiet, carefully controlled environment.

Instead, Addie found exactly where she belongs.

Her foster family adopted her.

The H**p household is many things: loud, busy, active, full of laughter, toddlers, and animals. Addie shares her home with two giant dogs—including a 150-pound Saint Bernard puppy—adult cats, other special needs cats, a chinchilla, and all the daily excitement that comes with family life.

And she's thriving.

What many people don't realize is that some of the happiest pets in that home are special needs themselves. Heart defects. Severe asthma. Blindness. Senior pets. They aren't hidden away. They aren't limited. They aren't living lesser lives.

They're running, playing, cuddling, exploring, and being loved exactly like every other pet.

The truth is that special needs pets don't need perfect homes.

They need committed homes.

They need patient homes.

They need loving homes.

Sometimes the very reasons people think they shouldn't adopt a special needs pet are actually the reasons they'll succeed.

Addie isn't succeeding despite her home.

She's succeeding because of it.

Let's stop defining animals by what they can't do and start celebrating everything they can.

Because blind pets can thrive.
Senior pets can thrive.
Pets with medical conditions can thrive.

And sometimes all it takes is someone willing to look past the label and see the pet.

🐾 Here's to breaking barriers, challenging stereotypes, and giving special needs pets the chance they deserve.
