This urgent case comes to us from Claudia Ulm , a well known rescuer in Pattaya, Thailand.
Claudia tells us the story of Leiah...
"Five years ago I found three dogs living in a cage so small they could barely turn around. A sister, a brother & the most fragile one of the three — Leiah.
They had been used as bait dogs, thrown to fighting dogs so others could be trained to kill. Their bodies were wounded, but the deeper wounds were the ones no one could see. Leiah was the most damaged of them all. Not because she was weak — but because she was sensitive.
Every loud noise, every sudden movement, every unfamiliar dog could bring back memories of the attacks she had survived. Sometimes the fear would overwhelm her and she would react defensively. Because of that, I always kept her separate from the small dogs and cats, not as punishment, but to keep everyone safe.
But Leiah still found happiness. She lives in a large backyard with other big rescue dogs, many of them survivors of the illegal dog meat trade. Dogs who understand trauma the way she does. She also learned to trust again.
But now Leiah is fighting a different battle. She has developed multiple mammary tumors. Some have already ruptured and opened into deep wounds. It is painful and dangerous. The only real chance she has is surgery.
We moved quickly and had X-rays taken, and right now the tumors have not spread to her lungs, which means there is still hope — but time is critical.
This little dog who has already survived so much cruelty — needs help at the worst possible moment. She survived being used as bait, she survived the fear and the trauma. She deserves the chance to survive this too."
The surgery and treatment will cost about $700usd.
We all want to make Leiah better & give her back the life where she's safe healthy & loved.
Any donation will help, please everyone let's do this for Leiah.
Thank you.
