In a cozy corner room upstairs, two huge windows face south; another welcomes sunrise from the east. This quiet space, above the chapel at The Old Whalers Church, we’re calling home for Canio’s Cultural Café. Upstairs from the church office, Room 29 offers a peaceful place to meet and talk, to stop in and share ideas. It’s not a bookshop, but a place to let your imagination wander. Come for coffee. Take a workshop. Make a new friend. Read in our next community marathon event. Find a comfortable corner to imagine a new story unfolding; to discuss the latest news. We’re offering editorial help, after-school tutoring, workshops, seminars and book discussions. We invite your curiosity as we create new events to intrigue and inform.

Find us during summer office hours Tuesdays and Fridays from noon to 4:30, with more hours available by appointment. Entrance from the west side of the building (44 Union Street), brings you through the church office doors. We’re upstairs, the last room on the right, past the library. We regret the room is not handicap accessible. But meet us in the chapel via the ramp on the east side of the building. Please let us know ahead of time. We look forward to seeing you soon!
