Last week, youth and promotoras from La Clinica De La Raza (Havenscourt) showed up at Oakland City Hall and made their voices heard. 🏛️
As part of our All Children Thrive program, community members from La Clínica de la Raza spoke during public comment at the May 19 Oakland City Council meeting, raising the alarm about lead exposure and environmental health in their neighborhoods.
Shoutout to everyone who showed up and spoke up:
✨ Jackeline Guillen
✨ Daniella Lopez
✨ Azucena Serrano Hernandez
✨ Alicia Pablo
✨ Jason Chales
✨ Bryanna Ramirez
✨ Silvia Guzman
Lead exposure is a public health crisis that has gone unaddressed for too long in communities like Havenscourt. These young people and promotoras are advocating to change that—one public comment, one council meeting, one raised voice at a time.
This is what community power looks like. We are so proud of you all. 💛
