Two schools. Two bikes. One winner. 🏍️

For the first-ever NH Bike Build Off, we’ve got an awesome matchup: The Palmer Center at Alvirne High School is going head-to-head with Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School.

These trade students have spent weeks designing, fabricating, and building custom bikes from scratch! Their hard work and skills are about to be put on display for the ultimate test.

Come see the finished builds in person and cast your vote during Laconia Motorcycle Week starting June 13!

One of our favorite parts about BBTT is getting out into the community and meeting people who are truly passionate about helping individuals find the career path that fits them best.

Yesterday, we had the privilege of meeting Ross Laboie, who runs the Vermont Construction Academy. What stood out most to us was that Ross does so much more than teach. He is a mentor, a friend, and whatever else his students need him to be.

Whether it's helping with food, clothing, personal challenges, confidence, or simply being there to listen, Ross goes above and beyond for every person in his class. He understands that success isn't just about learning a trade—it's about having someone in your corner who genuinely cares.

His passion is incredible, and it left me even more motivated to help individuals discover opportunities in the skilled trades. Ross is a true leader and a perfect example of why Bring Back the Trades continues to succeed. It's partnerships with people like him that inspire us and keep us moving forward every day.

The reality is that we need more mentors like Ross stepping up across the country. Our students don't just need instructors—they need role models, advocates, and leaders who are willing to invest in their futures.

When people take the time to mentor, encourage, and guide the next generation, more young men and women find meaningful careers, stronger confidence, and a path toward success.

Thank you, Ross, for everything you do. You're making a difference far beyond the classroom, and the trades industry is stronger because of leaders like you.

Today, Shana, Kennidy, and I had the opportunity to visit the Vermont Construction Academy. We were given an outstanding tour by Ross, Matt, and Joshua, and left incredibly impressed by both the organization and its mission.

The Vermont Construction Academy is doing important work by providing industry training and certification that equips individuals with the technical skills, hands-on experience, and professional credentials needed to succeed in the construction trades.

The Academy is also a strong advocate for skilled trades as a rewarding career path, highlighting the tremendous opportunities for growth, advancement, and earning potential available in the industry.

Matt Musgrave the Vermont RegionalDirector of the
New Hampshire/Vermont Chapter,
Associated Builders and Contractors also talked about how they could help
Out BBTT in both VT and NH

Thank you to Ross, Matt, and Joshua for your time and hospitality. We greatly enjoyed learning more about the Academy and the impact it is having on the workforce and community.

We look forward to returning soon for a follow-up visit.

I was on the ferry today coming back from New York when I looked over and saw the incredible waterfront facility of our Skills Expo sponsor, General Dynamics Electric Boat

I couldn't help but think, "Wow."
Seeing the scale of their operation from the water was a powerful reminder of the skilled trades professionals who make it all possible—welders, electricians, pipefitters, machinists, engineers, and countless others working behind the scenes every day.

We're proud to have Electric Boat as a sponsor of our Skills Expo and grateful for their commitment to supporting the next generation of skilled workers.

The opportunities in the trades are real, and organizations like Electric Boat are helping build the future.

Great meeting today with Colleen, CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine!

After visiting our Skills Expo last week at Southern Maine Community College, she was very impressed with what she saw and wanted to talk about how we can work together to bring career training and the trades into their programs.

As they build a brand-new Boys & Girls Club, they’re looking to add career exploration opportunities for kids — and that’s exactly what we’re all about at Bring Back the Trades.

We had a great conversation about giving kids hands-on exposure to the trades at an early age by letting them touch tools, learn skills, and explore different career paths. Building confidence early can lead to after-school jobs, future careers, and opportunities they may have never considered.

This is a huge win for the kids, families, and the future workforce. Excited to start putting a plan together and see where this partnership goes! 🔧💪
