We Have a Winner!!!

The Russell County Free Fair Board met to view all the poster entries in our inaugural Poster Contest. We are so proud of the entries from across Russell County and each artists interpretation of our theme, "We Invite You to Experience the Magic and the Wonder of the Fair." It was an extremely difficult decision to make!

1st Place Winner of the inaugural Poster Contest is Virginia Rohleder with her entry "Fair Time."

Virginia is a life-long resident of Russell County, a mother, a grandmother and serves our community through a variety of social and civic groups. After reaching out to Virginia to congratulate her on her first-place win, we asked her to share what the fair means to her; "The Fair is part of the fabric of our community. It's a place to share our talents and teach our children about creating goals and doing your best. The experience is not just about winning; it's about learning and building friendships along the way."

Second Place Winner is Elizabeth Norris with her beautiful collage, "Fairytale."

Third Place Winner is CJ Lawson.

Join us for a celebration to honor all the entries in the contest at the Deines Cultural Center, Sunday, April 19 from 2-4:00pm.

We’re incredibly grateful for your participation and support—it wouldn’t have been the same without you! Stay tuned for winner announcements and more exciting events ahead.

And, to the Deines Cultural Center THANK YOU for your support and a wonderful partnership.

The posters are currently on display at the Deines and will be available for viewing until May 1. The hours for the Deines are Sun, Tues - Sat from 12 - 5. The Deines will be sponsoring a reception to honor all the entrants on Sunday, April 19 from 2 - 4.

BIG NEWS, RUSSELL COUNTY!

We’re excited to announce the FIRST EVER Russell County Free Fair Poster Contest!

This is your chance to show off your creativity and help celebrate everything that makes our fair special. The theme for the contest is “We invite you to experience the magic and the wonder of the fair.”

Who can enter? Everyone who lives in Russell County!

What should you create? An original 16x20 poster. The format can include paint, drawing, collage, etc. AI artwork will not be allowed.

Prizes & bragging rights? The winner will receive $250 AND your artwork will be used as the cover of the 2026 Fairbook and in promotions for the 2026 Fair.
The 2nd place winner will receive $150 and 3rd place $50.

Entry deadline: April 1, 2026

How to enter: Bring your 16 x 20 ready to frame artwork to the Deines Cultural Center on April 1, 2026.

Whether you’re an artist, a student or just someone who loves the Fair, we’d love to see your interpretation of the magic and wonder of the Fair.
