🎉 Please join us in welcoming Kac'Rae McAlonan to the Russell County Area Community Foundation!

We are excited to announce that Kac'Rae will join RCACF as our new Deputy Director & Rural Prosperity Coordinator beginning this August.

With a strong background in business, financial services, hospitality, and community development, Kac'Rae brings a passion for building relationships and helping communities succeed. In her new role, she will work alongside nonprofits, local governments, and community partners to identify grant opportunities, secure funding for impactful projects, and help strengthen communities throughout Russell County.

She will also lead the development of a new Youth Philanthropy Program, empowering the next generation of leaders to give back, serve their communities, and help shape Russell County's future.

We're thrilled to have Kac'Rae on our team and look forward to the positive impact she'll make across our county. Please help us give her a warm welcome!

Keeping a vibrant hospital and healthcare local is so important. If an emergency arises, you want to know that there is a place nearby for immediate care. Rural hospitals across the country face challenges though.

If you are able, please consider giving to the hospital’s August campaign. The Patterson Family Foundation will generously match a portion the funds raised to benefit the hospital and the community foundation.

The community foundation is proud to sponsor the grasshopper contest as part of our 25th anniversary celebration. Have fun at the fair.

🦗 Can You Find Russell County's Biggest Grasshopper? 🦗

Think you've found a giant? Bring it to the Russell County Free Fair and see if it's the biggest of them all!

✅ Open to ALL ages
✅ FREE to enter
✅ Bring your largest grasshopper to the 4-H Building – Main Hall by 8:00 PM each day.
✅ Entries will be displayed for everyone to see!

Daily Competition
📅 Tuesday, July 21 – Friday, July 24

Each evening at 8:30 PM, the Fair Board will announce the Daily Champion.

🏆 Daily Winner:
🍔 $25 in food coupons, redeemable at all fair food vendors and the 4-H Food Stand!

Daily winning grasshoppers will remain on display throughout the fair.

🌟 Grand Champion Friday!

On Friday evening, the four daily champions will compete for the title of Grand Champion Grasshopper!

🥇 Grand Champion Prize:
💵 $100 Cash
🎀 A HUGE Grand Champion Ribbon
🏅 Russell County bragging rights!

We'll also be taking photos of each daily winner and their championship grasshopper to share on our social media throughout the week.

So get outside, start hunting, and bring us the biggest grasshopper you can find. You never know—it could be worth $100!

Thank you Mayor Cross and the City of Russell, Kansas for designating Russell County Area Community Foundation Day in honor of our 25th anniversary.

We love working with donors to create permanent charitable endowments that improve public health, education, the arts, economic development, parks and recreation, and so much more. Our mission is to make our community and even more wonderful place to live. We appreciate this honor!

How fun is this! We surprised the Grassroots Art Center with a $250 Random Grant of Kindness to support the Lucas Lego Challenge at the Adams Apple Festival. Thank you for making Russell County a wonderful place to live.
