Our Rush Co Kiwanis members wish safe travels to everyone traveling to the Philippines for the International Convention.

We hope your captain is not only human (not that there's anything wrong with a giraffe pilot), but also not afraid of heights.

Love Community Center volunteer Kathy Payne stopped by to tell our Kiwanis members about the need for volunteer docents (a fancy old word that means guide or teacher) during the Voices & Votes Smithsonian Exhibit in July/August.

Docents will greet visitors at the Love Community Center during the exhibits stay which is July 8 to August 16. Docents will provide information or answers to questions as people come through the exhibit.

There is a training booklet for volunteers wishing to be a docent during the exhibit. Hours are very flexible.
Just give Kathy a call at 614.980.6531.

Members of our club enjoyed showing off our Kiwanis Club at the Love Community Center's Family Fun Day on Saturday!

Our table not only had Kiwanis info for adults, but also an extremely fun and popular frog jumping game. Participants got to keep their frogs and also won prizes for landing the frog on a lily pad in a little pond. Actually, everyone who participated got a prize.

This was the second annual Family Fun Day which is the brain-child of two of our Kiwanis members - Susan Snider and LCC director Zuzana Smith!

Members of our club will be at the Love Community Center's Family Fun Day on Saturday, May 30, from 10 AM to 1 PM. We will have Kiwanis info for adults and the jumping frog game for kids (and adults).

At our last meeting in May we welcomed several guests including our Indiana Kiwanis Rose Division Lt. Governor Jennifer Feaster from Richmond. Our speaker was the new Rush County Chamber of Commerce Director Amanda Harris who told us about a few events happening over the summer.

Then, LtG Jennifer and Director Amanda helped our club members put together several Birthday Cake Kits which were taken to our Food Pantry at the Love Community Center. These kits contain everything needed to start a birthday party - cake mix, icing, sprinkles, candles, & festive napkins. Kiwanis members donated the items, all of which fit nicely into a baking pan (included).

We have a BIG summer coming up with many events, community services, and fundraisers. We urge all Kiwanians to help out. And if you're reading this and you are not a Kiwanian, you are welcome to help also.

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a time.
If this statement resonates with you, this is where you belong. 😄

Some of our members enjoyed a day of helping kids color & put stickers on small pots during GardenFest today. Dozens of kids of all ages enjoyed this activity and seemed eager to search GardenFest for the perfect plant to put in the pots.

GardenFest is an annual event in Rush County, and the Kiwanis Club of Rush Co always looks forward to participating.
