Summer is off to a bright start! ☀️ Today we celebrate not one, but TWO new matches! That means two more children gaining a trusted friend, a listening ear, and a caring adult to walk alongside them. We can’t wait to watch these friendships grow.

We saddled up for MoRE adventures today thanks to Deb Hurst of DEBrooke Equine Center and her host of wonderful volunteers!

There were declarations from the mentees, such as “This was the best outing all year!” and “Can I take him home?” (the horse) and “I want to stay in the saddle forever!”

The smiles were big, and the hearts are full. Once again, our generous community has given us a terrific gift of time and new opportunities! ♥️

Today was MoRE for Kids Doing Good Does You Good Day! We have such a generous community supporting us that we like to take the opportunity to volunteer and give back during one of our monthly outings. This year we volunteered with the Rushville Parks Department at Carol Jenkins-Davis Park, weeding and planting the community garden. A big thank you goes to Karen Schneider for leading our crew! It was a good day to do good!

This is what community can do — and what a wonderful community we have! Today’s bowlers brought in over $8,000! That means more smiles, more opportunities, more successes for Rush County youth. On top of that, we had a bevy of generous sponsors contributing as well. Our hearts are full. Truly, because of you, we can do MoRE. Thank you!

IT’s TODAY!!! Come bowl with us! Can’t bowl? We have some great gift baskets you might win. Roll on in and say hello!

One of the best things about MoRE for Kids is the people! Bob Emme has been a mentor, board member, and lunch buddy for quite some time. His match recently closed, and he immediately agreed to take on another mentee, Jay.

Jay is a terrific kid with a passion for turtles and other living creatures. His previous mentor has had a life change and is moving out of town. While Jay is sad about his other match ending, he already feels a connection to Bob and is excited to spend more time with him! We love match days at MoRE for Kids!

April is National Volunteer Month, and we want to thank our wonderful mentors who give of their time and resources to make a meaningful impact on the lives of these Rush County youth. They are heroes in our eyes. We can do MoRE because of them! ♥️

In June, Maelyn will be graduating — and is in the top ten of her senior class. We’re proud of her and can’t wait to see what she accomplishes as she plans to head off to Ball State in the fall!

It was sizzlin’ at the MoRE for Kids outing this evening! Thanks to a grant from the Rush County Community Foundation and to the generous support from Lori Hoeing and her terrific team, our participants learned how to make eggs and pancakes AND each family went home with an electric skillet, spatula, mixing bowl, measuring cups and spoons, and a large glass measuring cup, plus a box of Bisquick, a bottle of syrup, and a little book of kid-friendly recipes to use with their griddles. The kids did a great job making their dinners and enjoyed a tasty, filling meal made by using their own new skills!

At MoRE for Kids, one match means more encouragement. Two matches mean even MORE impact. Today we’re celebrating two new connections!

A junior at RCHS, Kinsley Gabbard is excited to begin a friendship with 4th grader, Marlaynna. They both love animals and enjoy being active. Kinsley loves kids and wants to be a help in our community.

Debbie Bruce is one of our seasoned mentors at MoRE for Kids. When her previous mentee moved out of the county, she decided to continue investing in our youth. She’s excited to begin a match with Emilee, a fun-loving second grader.

It’s amazing what can happen when someone simply shows up and says yes to doing MoRE with us!

There are still kids on the waiting list. Reach out. We’d love to share more!
