We had a fantastic time enjoying good food, games, and great company at our Fall BBQ & Game Day!

Our next recruitment event is our Open House on Tuesday, November 10! Come meet our Scouts and leaders, explore what our troop offers, and learn about the adventures that await. Middle and high school boys are welcome, and no previous Scouting experience or commitment is necessary.

Today’s conservation project at Starr Jaycee Park was a success! We hauled out enough limbs and other deadfall to create two giant piles that are now ready for the Royal Oak, MI DPW team to come and chip!

A final look at our fantastic weekend at the Davis-Besse Atomic Energy Camporee! ⚛️

We spent 13 hours at the training center yesterday, wrapping up just as the sun was setting. We even managed to get some great photos in front of the cooling tower during golden hour! 🌅

After a long day of learning, our Scouts enjoyed some well-earned fun, playing Ghosts in the Graveyard and other games with Scouts from the other troops.

What a weekend! Science, hands-on learning, new experiences, and plenty of camaraderie. We could not have asked for a better camporee!

The afternoon did not disappoint! ⚛️

The Troop 1627 Scouts learned about radiation and ways to mitigate exposure, how nuclear fission works, toured the control-room training simulator — an exact replica of the real thing — and even learned about career opportunities in the nuclear industry.

An incredible day packed with science, technology, hands-on learning, and plenty of new experiences!

What a day! Now, off to dinner! 🍽️

We are at the Davis-Besse Atomic Energy Camporee, and the Scouts have already packed a lot of learning into the morning!

Before lunch, we learned how to don contamination-protection gear, how the security team protects the plant, how nuclear energy is generated, and much more. ⚛️

And we are only halfway through the day! After lunch, we have more hands-on stations, including a visit to the control-room simulator.

Science, technology, teamwork, and a little nuclear power make for a pretty great Saturday! ⚡️
