🌸 Pollinator Week Children's Craft Activity!
🐝 Calling all young nature enthusiasts and the young at heart! Join the Coastal Prairie Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists for a fun-filled morning celebrating our amazing pollinators.
📅 When: June 25th, 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM
📍 Where: Native Plants Garden at Seabourne Creek Nature Park
👶 Target Audience: Children ages 4-10 (and anyone young at heart!)
Activities include:
☁️ Cotton Ball Pollination: A hands-on craft to learn exactly how pollination works!
🐝 Pom Pom Bees: Create your own fuzzy bumblebee friend using pipe cleaners and pom poms.
📜 Plus, explore informative pollinator guides and bee posters at our garden tables!
This event is a great addition to our scheduled Bug Walk. Come for the walk, stay for the crafts, and learn how you can help protect our local Texas native pollinators! No registration required.

Are you interested in becoming a Texas Master Naturalist? Registration for our Fall 2026 Training Class opens at 8:00am on July 6th The first session will be on Saturday, August 29th. Classes are held on Tuesdays from 6 to 9 pm and field sessions are on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm. The program has 13 sessions and will end Tuesday, November 3rd.

🌿🌸Here are a few snapshots from last week and a look at what we’ve been up to in the Native Plant Garden at Seabourne Creek Nature Park. When our enthusiastic and cheerful ‘Wild about Native Plants' volunteers came together after the wonderful rain created an explosion of growth, a productive morning ensued. Chapter members [Becky, Jann , Ruth, Ellen , Ana Lorena, Cathy , Susan, Nancy , Stephanie] worked in their respective plots, some taking inventory of plants, others mapping out and prioritizing tasks. Everyone pruned and weeded, ensuring that the gardens look their best.

Last night, Coastal Prairie Chapter member Erik Wolf was our monthly program featured speaker. He introduced us to the world of Ham radio enthusiasts and shared information about a program called “Parks on the Air.” It was informative and entertaining. Yesterday members of the Coastal Prairie Chapter participated in the monthly Houston Audubon
Bird survey at Archbishop Fiorenza Park. 48 species were observed and reported to eBird, a global citizen-science platform managed by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. These surveys provide critical data on local bird populations.
