CBA Section 12.F.8
If a Flight Attendant does not submit a vacation bid in the second round of bidding, they will automatically be assigned a vacation. Keep in mind, the vacation you are assigned will be after the second-round vacation awards have been completed for all Flight Attendants submitting a bid. The assigned vacation will be made in seniority order from December backward through January, with the largest block of days being assigned first.

Each November, Native American Heritage Month gives us an opportunity to celebrate the rich cultures, traditions, histories and contributions of Native American people. It is a time to learn, reflect and recognize the lasting impact Native Americans have on communities across our country.

For Flight Attendants, this month is also an opportunity to recognize the Native American members of our profession whose experiences, perspectives and cultural heritage help strengthen our crews, our workplace, and our Union.

One way to recognize Native American Heritage Month is by wearing your Native American AFA pin throughout November. If you don’t have one and would like to participate, reach out to your unitedafa.org/councils to obtain one.

This November, we invite you to share how you celebrate your Native American heritage! Please email [email protected] along with your name, base, and if you would like to include a photo as well as your tribal affiliation. Your submission can include how you honor the traditions and culture that are meaningful to you or how the importance of celebrating Native American heritage. We can’t wait to hear from you!

Every year, more than 5 million reported cases of skin cancer are diagnosed, making it the most prevalent type of cancer, not only in the United States, but worldwide. At least 1 in 5 Americans will develop some form of skin cancer by the age of 70 and, having had five or more instances of sunburn doubles your risk for melanoma. However, when detected early, the 5-year survival rate for melanoma cancer is 99%.

To raise awareness and preventatively protect yourself from skin cancer, United has partnered with SkinIO*, a company that provides free skin cancer screenings all in the comfort of your own home in as little as 10 minutes. It offers a fully guided experience where you use your mobile phone to take 13 HIPAA-secure images of your skin (head, torso, arms, legs and then close-ups). Participants in this screening service will receive their individual results within 2-3 days by either phone or email, offering you the option to use your personal email as a preferred method.

Annual exams with your dermatologist are crucial for early detection of skin cancer. To learn more about SkinIO, and this free partnership available to you, please go to Flying Together —> HelpHub and search “SkinIO.”

*SkinIO is available to employees and their covered dependents 18+ who participate in a United-sponsored PPO/EPO plan and who are based in the United States (excluding Guam) or Puerto Rico.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time dedicated to supporting those affected by and raising awareness for early detection signs of Breast Cancer.

Cancer can unexpectedly touch anyone's life, and United offers resources to help raise awareness.

COLOR is a cancer survivorship program that provides cancer risk assessments, screenings, and valuable support at no additional cost.

Are you still having difficulty when using CMAP?

First, did you opt into CMAP on CCS?
To opt into CMAP open CCS, tap on your profile picture > General Settings > Election Settings > CMAP Opting.

🚨 If you were denied access by the TSO Officer, ask them to confirm what response they received. “Not Found” or “Ineligible” because what you do next depends on that answer.

ℹ️ If the TSO says you were “Not Found:”
• Inaccurate data in CCS accounts for most “Not Found” cases.

• Verify that all passport information in CCS is 100% accurate and matches what’s in the readable field on your passport. (Additional spaces between your names must match also.)

• Anything that doesn’t match will cause “Not Found.” 👈
• If you’re still experiencing issues after completing the steps above, email [email protected] and CC [email protected] and [email protected]. Please use your company email. TSA will not respond to personal emails.

• If TSA is unable to assist, email [email protected] (CC [email protected]) with the information received from TSA, including which error message appears when using CMAP.

ℹ️ If the TSO says you were “Ineligible:” 👈

Over the course of the last few days, our United AFA website has experienced outages that have affected the Membership being able to log into the website. Due to those outages, we are accelerating our transition to a new login portal. This system cutover took place today at 1700 Central Time, and lasted approximately 2 hours. With this transition to the new login portal, there will be some steps that you will have to take to ensure you can log into the website that are listed below:

🚨 Action Required: Setting Up Your New Password 🚨
When you access the website after today, you will be required to create a new password. While we made every effort to seamlessly transfer your existing login credentials, the previous system's limitations prevented us from exporting that data securely.

• If you previously created an unitedafa.org account, you can select “Reset Password” on https://www.unitedafa.org/_hcms/mem/login

• If you did not previously have an account, you can claim your new one at: https://www.unitedafa.org/account-claim-page

🔎 Where to Use Your New Login
Your new credentials will serve as your unified login for the United AFA MEC Website and our upcoming App.

✳️ Note: Access to MemberLink (for filing Local Council Worksheets) is temporarily unavailable due to the recent outages. We will connect MemberLink to this new login system as soon as those servers are back online.

⭐ New Features Coming Soon
Moving to this modernized login platform paves the way for an improved digital experience. While our accelerated timeline means we are starting with the basics today, we will be rolling out new features in the coming weeks, including:

– Passwordless Logins: The ability to log in using biometric features like FaceID or TouchID.

– Customization: User-defined website favorites on unitedafa.org so you can quickly access the resources you use most.

– Faster Access for new Members: Our newest Members will have access to the resources on our website upon graduation, instead of weeks later under the current system.
