Ever notice how a strategy discussion gets muddier the more options are thrown into the room at once?

A new MIT neuroscience study found that the brain keeps competing choices in distinct neural representations while evaluating them, then reorganizes those representations once a decision is made. The potential underlying principle is interesting: clarity improves when alternatives stay mentally separate long enough to be evaluated on their own.
For high value meetings and strategy sessions, that may argue for showing options one at a time before comparing them side by side, rather than collapsing everything into one crowded discussion.

More face-to-face events. A lighter footprint. The industry may need to deliver both at once.

In a new Smart Meetings interview, PCMA President and CEO Sherrif Karamat predicts more consolidation and warns that climate change could become the next pandemic-level disruption. He calls for greater collaboration, clear supply-chain standards, and measurable climate action.

For planners, that puts more weight on venue standards. For example, IACC-certified venues like the OLC are independently assessed for quality, technology, sustainability, and service.

A woman walks into The House at 1229, a nonprofit women’s civic club in Washington, D.C where she knows almost no one. The owner greets her by name, walks her around, and introduces her like she’s been coming for years.

Within minutes feels like she belongs.

That’s the point behind a new ASAE article: associations already have the history, relationships, and real community newer membership spaces are trying to create from scratch. But too often, first-time attendees are still handed a badge and expected to find their own way in.

Report: More people are showing up to events. But they’re sitting through fewer sessions.

A new RainFocus survey found 62% of event professionals reported higher attendance, while the average attendee went to 4.2 sessions, down from 5.3. At the same time, 60% of planners have added more networking opportunities.

The shift points toward a different kind of value: fewer sessions worth going deeper on, more time with peers, and ways to keep the conversation going after everyone heads home.

Back pain has no type. Athletes get it. Desk workers get it. Even celebrities like Charlize Theron and George Clooney have talked publicly about serious injury from stunt work.

And it is hardly rare. A 2026 JAMA review estimates that low back pain affects about 619 million people worldwide and remains the leading cause of years lived with disability. About 90% of people who seek care have nonspecific low back pain, meaning there is no single identifiable spinal disorder causing it.

This , the message is less about chasing a “perfect” spine and more about keeping it working: stay active, avoid prolonged inactivity, lift responsibly, and seek evidence-based care when pain persists.
