The Cavaliers join the entire drum corps community in mourning the loss of Steve Vickers, a great friend, champion, and historian of our activity.

For more than five decades as editor and publisher of Drum Corps World, Steve made it his mission to tell the stories of drum corps. What made Steve special was his belief that every corps and every performer mattered. Steve believed their story deserved to be told.

For The Cavaliers, Steve was a familiar and trusted presence throughout generations of our organization and someone who shared our love for an activity that has meant so much to so many. His commitment helped preserve countless Cavaliers moments, and thousands more from across the drum corps community, that otherwise might have been lost to time.

Steve gave an extraordinary portion of his life to drum corps, serving as a performer, journalist, publisher, historian, advocate, volunteer, and ultimately a member of the DCI Hall of Fame. Few people have done more to chronicle and preserve the history of this activity.

We are grateful for Steve, for his friendship, and for everything he gave to drum corps. On behalf of the entire Cavaliers family, we extend our deepest condolences to Steve’s family, friends, and the many people throughout the activity who were fortunate enough to know him.

Thank you, Steve, for making sure our stories were told. You will be missed.
