🎉✨ YAC Con (Youth Grantmakers Summer Leadership Conference) = Unforgettable! ✨🎉
Three of our amazing YAC members—Hunter, Ash, and Eli—recently had the chance to attend YAC Con alongside our YAC Coordinator, Ellie Luck! 🙌💙

This year, the conference was held at Saginaw Valley State University from June 20th-22nd.

From life-changing leadership moments to making lasting friendships, they came back energized, inspired, and ready to make a difference in Roscommon County! 🌟🌍

💬 "YAC CON was life changing, the people I met and skills I learned are something I will forever remember. Such an unforgettable time and experience." – Hunter

💬 "YAC Con was an experience like no other. It gave me the last push I needed to get out of my shell and allowed me to make new amazing friends outside of my community. Thank you to everyone who made it happen!" – Eli

For Ash, this was their third year attending, and they continue to bring back knowledge, friendships, and motivation that benefit the entire Youth Advisory Council. 🔁❤️

These students truly embody what YAC is all about—youth leadership, service, and growth! 🚀👏

💚 Kindness Counts — for You & Others 💚

As we wrap up our Mental Health Awareness Campaign, the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) wants to highlight something simple but powerful: acts of kindness.

Whether it’s a smile, a compliment, helping a friend, or just listening — kindness can be a lifeline. Not only does it lift others up, but it boosts our own mental well-being too. Small actions can have a big impact.

Here’s what we’ve learned through this campaign:
✨ Kindness builds connection.
✨ It reduces stress and anxiety.
✨ It reminds us we’re not alone.

From creative sessions at Artesia Youth Park to filming with equipment from the Houghton Lake Public Library, and with the support of Common Ground and the amazing staff at RCCF, this campaign was rooted in kindness, collaboration, and care.

💬 Let’s keep that energy going. Look for opportunities every day to spread kindness — you never know who needs it most.

And thank you again to our incredible YAC Coordinator for showing us the true meaning of support and encouragement. 💚

💚 Reminder: You Don’t Have to Be Perfect 💚

As part of our Mental Health Awareness Campaign, the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) wants to share an important message:

✨ It’s okay to not have it all together.
✨ It’s okay to not be perfect.
✨ And it’s more than okay to be YOU.

In a world where social media often shows only the highlights, it’s easy to fall into the trap of comparison. But everyone has their own journey, and no one’s life is as flawless as it might seem online.

You are not behind. You are not less than. You are enough — exactly as you are. 💚

MOVE YOUR BODY, BOOST YOUR MIND

Did you know that just 30 minutes of movement a day can make a big difference in your mental health? Whether it's dancing, walking, skating, or stretching – exercise helps reduce stress, improve mood, and boost energy.

You don’t have to be an athlete. You just have to start. One step, one breath, one beat at a time.

💚 Take care of your mind by moving your body.

We’re Halfway Through Mental Health Awareness Month!
As we mark the midpoint of this important month, we want to shine a light on the heroes working behind the scenes: Common Ground — the team answering the call when people reach out to 988, Michigan’s Su***de & Crisis Lifeline.
Every single day, Common Ground offers compassionate, 24/7 support to those facing crisis, anxiety, or just needing someone to talk to. Their work is vital — they’re not just answering phones, they’re saving lives and connecting people to hope.
📞 In May 2024, Michigan’s 988 services had a 90% answer rate, making them some of the most responsive in the nation — thanks to dedicated organizations like Common Ground.
If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 — anytime, day or night. You are never alone.
Let’s keep the momentum going. Let’s keep talking. 💬
And thank you, Common Ground, for being a true lifeline in our community. 💚

SHIFT YOUR THOUGHTS, SHIFT YOUR WORLD

Sometimes, the biggest change starts with one small thought.
Instead of thinking "I'm not good enough," try "I'm doing my best, and that’s enough today."
Instead of "I always mess up," try "Mistakes help me grow."
Changing how you talk to yourself isn’t always easy — but it’s powerful.
Your thoughts matter. And you have the power to reframe them with kindness, patience, and practice.
Start small. Speak kindly to yourself today. 💚
