CALL TO ACTION - Ninety percent of a child’s brain develops before kindergarten. In those earliest years, more than one million neural connections spark every second, building the blueprint for learning, relationships, and health.
Yet budget cuts to Section 32p have unraveled the local systems that once helped families find support. Families are now left wandering a patchwork quilt with missing squares, searching on their own for developmental screenings, parenting support, literacy programs, home visiting, and referrals.
We cannot afford to let families face this alone.
Help Me Grow Collaboratives offer a path forward. Forty-four of Michigan’s 56 ISDs have already committed to this model because it works. Help Me Grow connects families to the right resources at the right time, strengthens partnerships with doctors and providers, supports early identification of needs, and ensures communities work together instead of in separate silos.
Michigan has the chance to rebuild what was lost and create a stronger, more connected system for every child and family.
Now is the time to act.
📣 Contact your state legislators and urge them to restore Section 32p funding and support Help Me Grow Collaboratives.
📣 Share why early childhood matters to your family, your work, or your community.
📣 Stand up for a future where every child has the chance to thrive from the very beginning.
The first five years are not a waiting room. They are the launchpad 🚀

Hear directly from our families about why the work of 32p is so important in connecting them to community resources, social connections, literacy opportunities, and preschool. Their stories are the constellation behind the numbers, showing how these supports help children and families grow, connect, and thrive.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month:The Pinwheel Symbol
The pinwheel is the national symbol for child abuse prevention, representing the joyful, healthy childhood every child deserves.

In the Pinwheels of Possibility campaign, the pinwheel tells a deeper story: with families at the center, each turn represents the systems, programs, policies, and everyday acts of care that strengthen families and help them thrive.

From home visiting and health care to economic stability and safe housing, every pathway of support helps expand what’s possible for children and families.
