April 22-26 is the U.S. Open Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada. Hononegah is being represented by both alumni and current wrestlers! Over the past weekend Levi Stott travelled to Reno to wrestle at Reno Worlds, considered “the toughest youth tournament in the world”. He didn’t have the outcome he hoped for going 2-3, but still managed to place 6th in the 10U 110lb bracket. He should still be proud of his hard work!! 💜💛

Last night in the wrestling room we awarded 2-$1000 scholarships to two of our wrestling seniors.

The first was the Stott Family Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a wrestler who is defined by their grit, tenacity and unmatched work ethic. An athlete that leaves everything on the mat and perseveres no matter what. The recipient for this scholarship is selected by the high school coaches and the scholarship is funded by David and Meaghan Stott. We are proud to present this award to Harrison Kinney.

The second is the Bryce Givens Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship honors the legacy of 2008 Hononegah graduate Bryce Givens. Bryce wrestled in high school for Hononegah and moved on to wrestle at the college level for the University of Indianapolis. In 2012, Givens returned to Hono as an assistant wrestling coach. Sadly, Bryce passed unexpectedly prior to the 2014 wrestling season. A memorial scholarship was created in his honor. Senior wrestlers are asked to submit an essay on what wrestling means to them. These essays are anonymously read and voted on by the HWC board and the recipient is selected based on the impact and meaning behind their words. This scholarship is funded by the Hononegah Wrestling Club. We are proud to present this award to Jackson Olson.

Hononegah’s Archer Smith and Liam Bissman were selected to represent Illinois on the Middle School National Dual Team at the Heartland USA National Duals (April 2–4, 2026) in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Both earned All-American honors while helping lead the team to a 1st place finish in the Diamond Division! Way to represent the Tribe!! 💜💛

IKWF Senior 118lb State CHAMPION!! 🥇

Liam has been wrestling with Hononegah Wrestling Club for 4 years. He has worked really hard and really made his mark within our program forging strong bonds with his coaches and teammates. Last night the tough practices, hard work, and determination paid off.

Yesterday was Liam’s 14th GOLDEN birthday and he ended the day a champion!!
