ALDA ALDA advocates for people of all ages with all types of hearing loss regardless of when your hearing loss journey began.

The mission of the Association of Late-Deafened Adults (ALDA) is to improve and empower the lives of people of of all ages with hearing loss through a national network, local groups, an annual convention and legal advocacy. Whether you use sign language or spoken language, were born Deaf or lost your hearing as an adult, ALDA recognizes you as part of our community. In addition to providing a netw

ork of peers and professionals who understand your needs, ALDA also works with affiliated attorneys to advocate for better societal inclusion. Some examples of our activities include legal action requiring movie theater chains to provide captions for all first run movies, negotiations to have live plays captioned, and using legal and public pressure to persuade online meeting software companies to provide captions free of charge to all users. We host an annual conference in addition to local and virtual meetings and events, and all of our meetings and presentations are always both captioned and interpreted.

Today is Giving Tuesday. This message was sent to all of our ALDA members and subscribers:
-----------------
Dear ALDA family,

The holiday season is a time for reflection, gratitude, and connection. This year, we invite you to consider making a donation to ALDA today, on Giving Tuesday*, as a meaningful way to celebrate someone special while helping others find the understanding and community they deserve.

You may make a general donation to ALDA or a gift to honor:
- A loved one who inspires you
- In memory of someone who inspired you
- Someone whose life makes a difference
- A friend or family member facing hearing loss
- An ALDA member who touched your life

Your tribute gift directly supports ALDA’s mission, including:
- Resources and peer support for people living with late-deafened hearing loss
- ALDAcon scholarships that open doors for new members.
- Accessibility, outreach, and advocacy efforts
- Community programs that bring us together

This season, help us continue building a welcoming place where no one faces hearing loss alone. Your generosity, in any amount, makes a real impact.

Give the gift of hope. Give the gift of connection. Give the gift of ALDA. To DONATE, go to https://alda.org/alda-donation/ If you are not yet a member of ALDA, you can join by going to https://alda.org/membership/

ALDAwarmly,

Diane McDonagh
ALDA President
