Do you celebrate your Baptism Day?

I remember hearing this idea as an adult and thinking it is such a great idea - to celebrate one’s birthday into a life with Jesus Christ! Well, today is my baptismal anniversary and pictured here is the Church where I was baptized. It is the Presbyterian Church in Rock Stream, NY, where my father grew up. I have relatives who served as pastors here and a lot of family history in this small little Church.

Now my baptism was Catholic - the priest from Watkins Glen baptized both my older brother and I into the Catholic faith, but here in my father’s family Church as half the family was Presbyterian. I look back on my baptism with happiness and joy, and I love this blend of family tradition with my Catholic faith.

While my father was born and raised in the Presbyterian Church (my mother is and always was Catholic), he would go on to enter the Catholic Church at my younger brother’s baptism (which took place in a Catholic Church). Today, my younger brother and my father are both ordained priests - one Roman Catholic and one Maronite Catholic.

As I reflect back upon my unusual Baptism Day, I am amazed to think of how the grace of our Lord works in our lives! The Lord truly moves in mysterious ways, and I am so grateful for being a part of His family and having His life in me!

This time of year brings along many challenges, such as: flu season, & dry and cracked skin. Washing our hands is especially important right now to stop the spread of flu and keep ourselves healthy, but then you might deal with dry skin, and worse case you have cracked and bleeding hands.
