Update on the QUEEN DARLA JEAN.
We just absolutely adore this dog. She loves love more than anyone else in my house. I cannot believe she still lives with me.
Darla has been experiencing new and great things the last month or so. She learned the crazy dog on the other side of the gate might actually be a fun playmate in disguise…. It took one small training game with her to realize it!
We started muzzle training her and couldn’t be happier. She struggled once at the vet when they needed to draw blood from her leg for testing. She was happy happy happy until someone held her leg. She let out a grumble so the vet simply threw a muzzle on and she sat patiently while the blood was drawn. The vet removed it directly after and it made for such a smooth and easy visit and she was right back to happy and wiggly. I tested out some very slow training with touching Darla’s feet at home. It went super slow and I was permitted to clip one nail. Then, the grumble. So, muzzle training was a no brainer! I am ecstatic that she loves it so much and it’s a true godsend while continuing to work on getting her comfortable with her nails clipped.
She’s really got her schedule down now. Lazy turd PUTS HERSELF to bed at 8:30 and doesn’t get up until about 8:30…. I don’t blame her I’m a ten hours of sleep a night kind of girly.
We have started playing a really fun game of tag around the couch all while she squeaks her toy and thrashes her head. She is so stinking comical.
She is an absolute perfect mama on a gentle leader and is enjoying walks more frequently now that she acknowledges things, keeps an eye on them, and just keeps moving.
She gets smarter and more comfortable everyday. She is such a joy to have. She’s really diving into the “scary” smile when you come home and it’s the most wholesome thing I know. 😭♥️
As long as adoptable dogs are under my roof, the training continues until the day they leave. At that point, you are given every tool in my arsenal to keep the training going and the bond strong. Darla LOVES training and it’s all because it’s been a great, positive experience for her.

Darla is potty trained, crate trained, leash trained, and LOVES cats.
Her ideal home would be with a submissive dog who will let her take her time getting to know them. She does okay with everyone but each relationship is different. Some take less than a week and some take months. She just needs to know she is safe and loved. She would also do amazing as an only dog. She would rather play with her humans anyway. Darla does not share well so she needs to be fed and treated separately from other dogs on the house. That doesn’t stop her from being a great doggy friend though! ♥️
