We are a newly formed non-profit, CARD-NH, which stands for Center for Autism and Related Disabilities of New Hampshire. We have partnered with the space at Potter’s House Bakery to work together to open Cindy’s Sensory Room in Rochester, NH. Potter’s House is a local bakery in Rochester who not only makes delicious goodies, but also has a mission to help support young adults who have autism and o

ther related disabilities. Part of the inspiration for the mission at Potter’s House Bakery came from our dear friend Cindy who had her own personal mission to support children with autism and related disabilities. Before Cindy’s passing, she worked for years in the private and public setting to help support children with autism and their families. She ended up working with Potter’s House Bakery when they opened to give on the job training to employees. Cindy is greatly missed and we have chosen to honor her in including her name in our new sensory room. It is our hope that Cindy’s Sensory Room will be a space for children of all ages with sensory needs to use. Customers can enjoy the space while visiting the Potter’s House Bakery or just come for a visit. Employees can use the space when needed and we hope to work side by side with the Potter’s House to continue their mission of on the job training to train young adults to work in this setting. Employees will receive training in caring for the equipment, scheduling the space and enhancing employee social skills when working with the public.

Thank you so much for attending tonight’s event!

Tonight at our monthly game/ craft night, we had some special visitors! We’ve been getting to know Dave as he stops in while working as a project manager at The Ridge phase two. Wanting to help where he can, he and his wife Michaela have become our pizza sponsorsπŸ•πŸ•πŸ• They have purchased pizza and attended our event the last several months. Tonight, Michaela’s parents Rick and Shelley attended. Shelly is a retired special education teacher that just had to check out Cindy's Sensory Room. They’ve all driven up from outside of Boston to learn more about our community, our mission, and the sensory room. It’s been wonderful getting to know the family as they get to know our employees, volunteers, and friends. It always amazes us just how far word travels about our mission. Thank you for attending and contributing to our game nights!

This national story touched our hearts, and we just had to have our own rooster. As you know, kids on the spectrum hold a special place here at Potter’s. Help us come up with a name for our new buddy!πŸ”

Today, we are welcoming Max to his first time hosting. Max should be no stranger if you’ve been following along with Potter's House Bakery & Cafe. He’s one of their very first employees 8 years ago. To this day he frequents the bakery, attends events, interviews, and makes television appearances, because he is so passionate about autism acceptance.

He has been working at the Monarch School of New England for several years now. He and his coworkers were instrumental in helping to set up the room and understand the equipment. We just couldn’t have done it without his help!

All this to say, Max will be here 10-12 with Kolby today. Drop in to say hello! πŸ‘‹πŸ˜Š

This morning we had board members April, Meghan, and Heather in to help set up some new items! They created signs with instructions for each station, built new shelves for easy storage, hung a magnetic board, and set up a kinetic sand station. We thank them so much for their time today!πŸ’›

The soft opening has really allowed us to take notes and listen to our visitors. This time is helping us to grow🌱

Our hearts are so full tonight β™₯️ Today, we were open during the annual Fossil Dig with Potter's House Bakery & Cafe and Guyer Travel Network. We had a full house during that time and received some amazing feedback on our sensory room, built for our community.

Today, is also the monthly craft/game night at Potter’s . A place for friends to get together outside of work and just have fun. Almost everyone wanted to hang in the sensory room, over the bakery lobby.

Dreams do come true πŸ₯°
