Downtown Rochester isn’t just for people, it’s for their four-legged friends too.

As we get into the warmer months, you’ll start to see more pets out and about. Many businesses put out water bowls, and there are plenty of places with outdoor seating where pets are welcome.

It’s something we don’t always talk about, but it’s part of what makes downtown feel open and accessible for everyone.

We’d love to see your pets enjoying downtown. If you have a photo, feel free to share it in the comments.

If you’re a pet-friendly business, let people know in the comments as well.

There’s a lot that goes into planning events and programs downtown, but at the end of the day, it only works if people show up and take part.

As we head into the summer season, there will be more opportunities to spend time downtown, whether it’s events, activities, or just being here and supporting local businesses.

Being part of it doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it’s just showing up, walking around, and seeing what’s going on.

That’s what helps create the energy that makes downtown feel active and worth being part of.

We are so happy that one of our business owners applied for this grant and received it. This is great news for both Postal Center as well as Hometown Holiday Helpers which we recently took on under our umbrella as a Fiscal Sponsor!

⭐️⭐️⭐️BIG NEWS!!!!

We’re thrilled to share that Postal Center USA has been selected as a recipient of the Amex Shop Small® Grants Program, thanks to American Express and Main Street America.

Receiving this $20,000 grant is about so much more than funding—it’s an exciting opportunity to invest in our future, enhance our customer experience, and continue making a positive impact in the communities we serve.

Here’s what’s ahead:
✨ Enhancements to our storefront and curb appeal
✨ New equipment and resources for our inventory and volunteer space
✨ Expanded support for Hometown Holiday Helpers, the nonprofit organization that has operated from Postal Center USA since 2018, helping families throughout neighboring communities

As a small business, every investment matters, and this grant will help us create visible improvements while strengthening the programs and services that mean so much to our community.

We’re incredibly honored to be recognized alongside more than 500 outstanding small businesses from across the country. Opportunities like this empower small businesses to grow, innovate, and continue making a difference where it matters most.

Congratulations to all of the fellow grant recipients! Together, we’re helping keep our local communities vibrant, connected, and thriving. ❤️

Even though we’re just getting into summer, a lot of the work we’re doing right now is already focused on what’s coming later in the year.

Events like our fall programming and Festival of Trees take a significant amount of planning, coordination, and time to come together.

A lot of those conversations are already happening, from early ideas to logistics and everything in between.

We’re hoping to have signup opportunities available for these events soon, and many of them are still looking for sponsors.

It’s not always the most visible part of what we do, but it’s what allows these events to happen the way they do each year.

If you’ve spent time along the Riverwalk, you’ve probably noticed the pollinator gardens.

They’ve been part of downtown for years, and more recently have been getting some attention through ongoing refurbishment efforts with the help of the Lilac City Gardeners.

These spaces add color and interest while also supporting pollinators and contributing to the overall feel of the area.

Projects like this are part of our ongoing efforts to maintain and improve downtown spaces, and they’re made possible through support from the community.

Sponsoring something like the pollinator gardens is a way to contribute to a visible, lasting improvement that people can enjoy throughout the season.

We want to take a moment to recognize the Rochester Trustees of the Trust Funds for their support of Rochester Main Street.

The Trustees of the Trust Funds manage funds that have been set aside over time to support the Rochester community. Those funds are used to help support projects, programs, and organizations that benefit the city.

Support like this plays an important role in the work we do. It helps fund projects and improvements that contribute to the overall experience of being downtown.

There are a number of ways this kind of work is supported, whether through organizations like the Trustees, local businesses, or individual contributions.

If you’re interested in being part of that, you can learn more here:

It’s steady support over time that allows things to continue moving forward, and we’re grateful to be part of that effort.

As we get closer to summer, we’re getting ready to bring back our Kids Summer Series.

This year’s series will once again give families a reason to spend time downtown during the week, with activities that are easy to drop into and enjoy.

We’re excited to have Sages Entertainment providing the central programming, along with Guyer Travel bringing their own activities to the mix.

We’ll be sharing more details soon, but the series will be starting toward the end of June.

We are still looking for additional support, including sponsors for live music and family-friendly vendors who would like to be part of the series. If you’re interested, feel free to reach out.
