United Way of Baldwin County, Alabama volunteers recently spent the day at Baldwin Youth Services Boys’ Home, and we couldn’t be more grateful. Huge shout‑out to United Way for choosing to support BYS, and an even bigger thank‑you to the incredible volunteers who gave their time, energy, and heart. Your kindness makes a real difference in the lives of our boys.

👩‍🎓Congratulations 🌟
We had one from each group home graduate in recently.
Both showed remarkable persistence and dedication, pushing through every challenge to reach this milestone. Now, they get to enjoy their summer back at home, knowing they’ve earned it.

Our houseparents and BYS staff are incredibly proud of their accomplishments. JPO Donna Nettles, our special guest speaker, also offered heartfelt praise for their hard work and growth.
A big congratulations to both graduates as they move forward with confidence and a bright future ahead.

Baldwin Youth Services is truly an incredible place to work—but the work we do is not without its challenges. Our Innovations Committee plays an important role in keeping staff encouraged and engaged, helping to build a positive and supportive workplace culture.

This month, our Executive Director, Mr. Deon Gatson, generously sponsored an Employee Appreciation event at GooRoo’s, giving our team a well-deserved opportunity to relax and connect.

A special thank you to Mrs. Christi for arriving early and creating a welcoming atmosphere with fun summer décor, and to Mr. Mike for assisting with the setup. We also extend our appreciation to GooRoo’s for hosting our group and providing a great experience for our staff.

Frank Carter - May 2026 Employee of the Month
BYS is proud to recognize Frank Carter as our Employee of the Month. Since joining us in 2023 as a Boys House Parent for the Sunday–Wednesday shift, Frank has consistently shown what it means to serve with purpose. He makes sure the boys in his care are both physically and spiritually nourished, creating an environment where they feel supported, valued, and challenged to grow.
Frank leads by example every day. Whether he’s teaching life skills, offering guidance, or simply showing up with a positive attitude, he looks for every opportunity to help these young men become confident, successful adults. His dedication is felt throughout the house, and we’re grateful for the impact he makes.

Baldwin Youth Services is honored to share that our Executive Director, Deon Gatson, served as the keynote speaker at this year’s Annual Prayer Breakfast hosted by the Central Baldwin Chamber of Commerce. Deon is an exceptional community leader, and his commitment, vision, and service continue to make a meaningful impact throughout our community.
