We aren't giving puppies away. We don't do "Clear the SHELTERS! Here's your FREE DOG!" events. We don't use shelter vets or low cost medicine and we don't use fosters. It's a good way for lots of folks but we have chosen a different path. A dog adopted from FLFAS has worked with a certified trainer and behavioralist as has our kennel team. They are taught basics like sit, down and lead walking in difficult environments like a handicap ramp, stairs, by cats, chickens, other dogs and an assortment of strangers. We feel so strongly about the importance of traning that we GIVE every adopter a full session with our trainer to help with integration whether you are worried about kids, an older dog or cats. The dogs are taken to a private practice veterinarian and go on the scales, are handled by various techs and doctors. We back that up with 30 days of free Trupanion Pet Insurance. We work REALLY hard at bringing you a dog or puppy who is READY to become a member of your family from day one and yeah, go to the PARK! We think that extra care and commitment has value and hope you do too!

Some finishing touches! Repurposed one of the upper cabinets from the Kitten Room into the bathroom for toilet paper, Swiffer heads, Kleenex, TB Cleaner storage! More things off the ground. A place for everything and everything in it's place!
Then got the old celling fan down and the new one up. It had been missing it's blades soooo long apparently no one realized it was once a ceiling fan. Ha! Onto a new plug and fixture in the new Clinic space and on Monday we start the last of MY personal big projects for a few weeks. I have a one week goal on that one but two weeks time to spare if needed.

Local friends! While we have suspended weekly Markets for summer? I also take this time to can and replenish stock on our pantry shelves. Our hens keep laying. If you see that we are hosting adoptions and need eggs or jam? Come on out! We are here most Saturdays from 11 to 2 but check EVENTS to be sure.

Our new Clinic Space and Iso Ward took a FULL WEEK and I still have a day of work left to do but I am SUPER pleased!

Before we get into our major electrical work, do we have a handy man or woman who might swap out a couple of bad outlets and two ceiling fans? We could even pay a bit!

When we took this family on a bit over two months ago, it was to give my Kennel Team a break. They were shaggy and cute and would get homes quickly...I thought. When we got them though they were a bit more difficult than that. They were covered in ticks, has never seen a leash or harness, didn't get baths or containment at all and forget basic manners.
Add to that, this family of four was to become a family of TEN in a week or two as Fly was pregnant.
It has been about ten weeks and my team, lead by Wendy Kiefer has outdone themselves. It is such a small team. Too small. We need canine volunteers badly but Savannah, Alison, Barb, Jake and Brigette work hard and get it done. Wendy is coming in 6 days a week. It's untenable but the progress is also immeasurable. Molly (the matriarch, 2-3 years old) and her boys Finn and Phalen (5 mos) look very much lile their Komomdor-Shepherd mix the DNA test shows. They have the shaggy hair and are JOYOUS. They love their baths, wait for treats, sit, give paws and leash up well. They hold their potties and are super eager to please and CRAVE love. Fly (11-13 mos old daughter of Molly) has had her puppies, raised them and truly only one other mama dog rivals her and that is Maggie. She is an amazing dog. She is more quiet and serious but then she has had to be as such a young mom. She doesn't have the scruffy coat but rather the slick coat and clear blue eyes of her Husky DNA. She is stunning but also has the whimsical one ear up, one ear down look we have fallen in love with.
Our behavioralist was involved from the beginning as she felt certain these dogs had been on the road as a feral pack for some time with Molly caring for them. She did a good job but my team? I am so proud of them. They have made good citizens of thia wild family and these dogs are ready for your home. I have overloaded by kennels once again and they need a break.
We did all of the expensive, hard work.
Spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested, dewormed, and on monthly flea and heartworm prevention.
Adoption fee is $400 and these dogs are all set for a year!
Message for a private appointment or come meet them Saturday, here at First Ladies Farm and Sanctuary between 11 and 2!
