A few members of 20-17 joined Steven “C**n” Flack, Chapter XO, on his annual pilgrimage to the USS Stark Memorial Ceremony at Naval Station Mayport in Jacksonville. They had the privilege of running into CVMA brothers and sisters from Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association-reg TM Chapter 20-2 & Mississippi along the way.
Having been stationed on the Stark during his Navy service, the event’s meaning runs deep for C**n. He shared this post from the USS Stark page on May 15th, the day of the Memorial Ceremony:
🇺🇸39th Annual USS STARK (FFG-31) Memorial
⚓️Today we gathered for the 39th USS STARK Memorial Ceremony — a solemn tribute to the 37 Sailors who lost their lives on May 17, 1987, when USS STARK (FFG 31) was struck by two Iraqi Exocet missiles while on patrol in the Persian Gulf.
🤝We’re grateful to Florida Lieutenant Governor Jay Collins for being our guest speaker.
🎗️The ceremony serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made in service to our nation. USS STARK's legacy lives on in the hearts of our Navy family and through this annual event, where we honor the courage, commitment, and selflessness of her crew.
As we reflect today, we remain forever grateful to those who served aboard STARK, to the families who continue to carry their memory, and to all who uphold the Navy’s enduring values of honor, courage, and commitment.
We remember. We honor. We never forget.
