We provide free legal assistance to protect rights, ensure justice & uplift individuals and families.

The services are provided by the lawyers of Prince George's County and by professional staff. With the help of volunteer and staff attorneys, we provide free legal advice, free or reduced legal representation, and legal education to low income persons in Prince George's County. We provide assistance in matters involving: divorce, custody, child support, visitation, domestic violence, guardianship,

unpaid wages, foreclosure, bankruptcy chapter 7 and other non-fee generating cases. Our Mission: To support, educate, and advocate for individuals, families, and communities by providing free, high-quality legal services that protect fundamental rights, ensure equal access to justice, and uplift those we serve.

🚨 Important Changes to Eviction Law in Anne Arundel County & Annapolis Take Effect July 1, 2026 🚨

Beginning July 1, landlords must provide 14 days advance written notice, and under the new "Lock and Leave" process, personal belongings left inside a unit at the time of eviction may be locked inside the property. After 24 hours, a landlord may dispose of, donate, or sell the remaining items.

Understanding your rights before an eviction occurs is more important than ever. Don't wait until it's too late to learn how these changes could impact you and your family!

to spend time with the students at Cesar Chavez Elementary Career Day!

Beyond talking about careers in the legal field, our team had the opportunity to have conversations with students about purpose, community, advocacy, and the many different paths that can lead to meaningful work. We know exposure matters. Sometimes all it takes is one conversation, one connection, or one example to help a young person start thinking bigger about what’s possible for their future. ⚖️✨

📢 CLS LAWYER IN RESIDENCE PROGRAM - CITY OF ANNAPOLIS ⚖️
CLS is partnering with the City of Annapolis to provide free legal assistance to income-eligible Annapolis residents through the CLS Lawyer in Residence Program at the Annapolis Office of Community Services’ Robinwood Satellite Office.

Beginning May 21, a CLS attorney will be available every Thursday from 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. to assist with a variety of civil legal matters, including:
⚖️ Landlord-Tenant Matters
📝 Expungements
📄 Simple Wills & Advance Directives

Services include legal counseling, limited document preparation, and referrals. Assistance is available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you live in the City of Annapolis and need legal guidance, this is an opportunity to meet with an attorney in person and get trusted information about your rights and options.

CLS participated in Eleanor Roosevelt High School's National Honor Society Mental Health Event on May 5. Our team was honored to join students, educators, and community organizations to share information about the legal services and resources available to individuals and families throughout our community.

We were also honored to have Judge Dorsainvil in attendance, showing support for this important conversation about mental health and the well-being of our youth.
