This morning, EMERGENCY FRONT LINE UKRAINE 2024 mission, under the sponsorship of Kira Aid Association, departed from Lecco, Italy led by Dr. Mario Tavola alongside Salesian sister Suor Maridele. Once again, thanks to our donors, a critical shipment of medical and hospital products, as well as specific emergency relief items for the war front, is on its way. We were able to collect nearly 12,000 euros along with additional material donations. Tomorrow the group will arrive in Lviv, and shortly thereafter all the supplies will be delivered and distributed among the doctors working on the front lines, thanks to the tireless logistical support on the ground from the team led by Father Gregorio Shved.
After two years of conflict, these endeavors may seem to lack a sense of purpose, unfortunately. As the news fades from the front pages of our media, the war continues without interruption, and the casualties, increasingly among younger people, are still very high. Therefore, it’s critical that we maintain our operation and support. Even if it’s only one life saved, just one of these young people called to such a difficult and perilous trial, it will be like saving one of our own children. Politicians may play their own games, failing to consider these issues on a humanitarian level, but our action and our example will remain forever in the hearts and minds of many people, an indelible sign of humanity capable of fighting for the defense of human rights and peace.
