Hi folks,

I want to invite you to the Richmond Housing & Health Rights Coalitions Door-by-Door Community Building Activity this Saturday, May 2nd. We'll try to gather at 12:45 in the Earlham Front Drive (between the 2 first front-facing buildings on campus, Landrum Bolling Center and CST).

We will aim to canvass from 1 pm till 3:30 pm (though you don't have to stay the whole time!).

Transportation is provided to surveying sites. There will be snacks as well.

We need as many hands on deck as possible for this; our building community and exchanging stories with folks is one of our most important tasks!

The premise is we have these extremely simple housing surveys and a list of probable-tenant addresses; we go door knocking at these places in the hopes of getting survey responses. The real aim, of course, is to create dialogue with folks, discover more stories, and build community. We also have helpful resources we pass out to folks.

We always go in pairs, and everyone is trained. It's fun, actually, especially when you're with people. And folks are nice.

Hope to see you there !

Dear Friends,

We warmly invite you to join us on Sunday, December 21, for our Second Annual Longest Night Vigil.

We will gather at 5:00 PM at the Earlham School of Religion, then caravan at 5:30 PM to several locations around town. At each stop, we will lift up testimonies, share stories, and renew our commitment for the coming year—in the words of Mother Jones, “to mourn the dead and fight like hell for the living.”

We will conclude back at the Earlham School of Religion Community Center with food and fellowship. Please come share warmth, good food, and community as we move through this longest night together.

More details coming soon. We hope to see you there.

*UPDATE Due to Government Reopening*
With the federal government now reopened, some of the offers provided by local businesses are being discontinued. This remains an ever-changing situation, and we will share additional updates as they become available.

We are deeply inspired by the generosity of local Wayne County businesses - 5 Arch Brewing Company, Mancino's Richmond, The Firehouse BBQ and Blues, Sweet Blessings, Thai Thara Restaurant, IHOP Richmond, Block Head Records, Lulu's Tacos, Yamato Steakhouse&Sushi Richmond IN, Ullery's Homemade Ice-Cream who are offering free community meals to SNAP recipients in light of the upcoming delay to SNAP funding in November.

In addition, Suzie’s Pizza, Carlo's Cuisine Family Restuarant and Sweet Blessings are offering "Pay It Forward" boards with pre-paid meals by community members. If you're able, consider stopping by these locations to pay for a meal for someone in our community.

Let’s rally behind these incredible establishments!! If you’re able, please consider dining with these restaurants or ordering takeout to show your support and help their incredible generosity.

We've created an easy-to-access resource page listing other food pantries and meal sites: https://visitrichmond.org/visitors/welcome/local-resident-resources/

Dear Friends,

We’re excited to have you join us for the Families First Day of Action: Wi******er to Richmond Caravan on Saturday, July 26, as we stand together to defend healthcare, food access, and basic rights for all.

👉 If you haven’t registered yet, please take a moment to do so here: https://www.mobilize.us/mobilize/event/816223/

This caravan rally is about building solidarity across our communities. We'll begin at Wi******er Area Churches & Community Food Pantry (next to Ascension St. Vincent Randolph Hospital) and travel together to Middlefork Reservoir Park in Richmond, to raise awareness about ongoing threats to Medicaid, SNAP, and rural hospitals like Ascension St. Vincent Randolph. At the same time, billions are being spent on war and immigration enforcement instead of caring for our communities.

Let’s come together to say: Care, not cuts.
We'll end the day in Richmond with speakers, music, and powerful testimonies.

🗓 Schedule
1–2 PM | Gather at Wi******er Area Churches & Community Food Pantry
527 E Greenville Ave, Wi******er, IN (next to the hospital)

2–2:30 PM | Caravan from Wi******er to Richmond

2:30–5 PM | Rally & Community Gathering
Middlefork Reservoir, Shelter #3 (near the dog park)
1750 Sylvan Nook Dr, Richmond, IN 47374

🚗 Bring Your Signs, Stories & People!
Since this is a caravan, we encourage you to decorate your vehicles with signs. Let’s show that Richmond stands for housing, healthcare, and dignity for all.
Here are some slogan ideas:

"Save Rural Hospitals"

"Medicaid Cuts = Death"

"Healthcare is a Human Right"

"Cuts Hurt, Medicaid Heals"

"Medicaid Helps America More Than Deportations"

"Cure Ableism, Not Autism"

🛣 Caravan Route & Safety
We’ll depart together from Wi******er, travel down Highway 27, pass Reid Hospital, and end at Middlefork Reservoir.
We’ll proceed in a safe, orderly fashion, following traffic rules (not just the flow of traffic), especially near hospitals. There will be a lead car and a “back door” vehicle to help keep the caravan on track.

Searching for People who have been Discriminated Against in Richmond - we want to help you!

The Richmond Housing & Human Rights Coalition is looking to identify and understand how people in Richmond may be experiencing discrimination. This includes, but is not limited to, discrimination on the basis of race, religious affiliation, color, gender, disability, nationality, age, or ancestry. We are seeking victims of discrimination so we can better understand how to protect the most vulnerable in our community.

if there is any chance that you or somebody you know has experienced this and are willing to share your story to please contact me by sending me a private message.

Even if you do not know anyone yourself who has experienced discrimination, can I count on you to share this post and forward it to somebody who may know someone who has been discriminated against?

In solidarity,
- Jimmy
