Aging out of the foster care system can mean stepping into adulthood without many of the resources or support systems others often take for granted. For many young adults, reliable transportation, financial stability, and even learning how to drive can become enormous barriers to moving forward.
Our 67th client, “Ryan”*, was nominated by Zahra from Our Community Our Kids, a Fort Worth organization serving children and young adults connected to foster care and adoption services. Zahra shared how difficult this transition can be — but also how incredibly driven and resilient so many of these young adults are.
Ryan* is a perfect example of that determination. While pursuing a double major in college, working, and paying bills, they’ve been navigating public transportation across the metroplex every day to build a better future.
This week, we had the honor of gifting Ryan* a Pontiac Vibe and welcoming them into the OnRamp DFW family. 🚗
Reliable transportation may seem small to some, but for young adults aging out of foster care, it can open doors to opportunity, stability, and independence.

✨ Meet Jackie Smith! ✨

We’re excited to welcome Jackie to the OnRamp DFW team as our new admin! 💙

After 15 years as a fitness studio owner and director, Jackie has seen the impact a supportive community can make in people’s lives. At OnRamp DFW, she will help keep everything running smoothly by scheduling interviews and vehicle giveaways, reviewing applications, and keeping our team organized as we serve families across DFW. 🚗

Jackie believes every car is more than transportation — it’s a reminder of God’s grace, provision, and hope.

Outside of OnRamp DFW, Jackie serves in her church’s children’s ministry, volunteers with her homeschool co-op, and enjoys hiking, cooking, game nights, and a good book.

Some stories stay with you long after the giveaway ends. 🚙💙

When Maedeh received her Toyota Corolla through OnRamp DFW, she was grateful, but it was another gift that moved her to tears. After learning she had fled Iran because of her faith in Jesus, our team gifted her a Bible in her heart language, Farsi, something incredibly difficult and dangerous to possess in her home country.
Then she asked us something no client had ever asked before: she wanted every volunteer to sign inside her Bible so she could always remember the people and the day God provided for her.
Maedeh came to DFW with nothing but determination, faith, and hope for a new beginning. Reliable transportation will now help her get to work, trainings, and daily necessities as she continues rebuilding her life.
Her story reminded all of us to pause and remember the ways God shows up even in the middle of uncertainty.

✨ Throwback to Kayun’s story ✨

Kayun’s journey is one we still think about often.

As the oldest of seven, she’s carried responsibility from a young age—walking through the foster care system while stepping up to care for her siblings whenever she could. Even now, she continues to show up in incredible ways, balancing overnight work shifts, college classes, and pursuing her dream of becoming a nurse.

But for a long time, transportation made everything harder. After saving up for her first car, it broke down just months later, leaving her to rely on walking and costly rideshares just to get to work and school.

When Kayun received her vehicle, it wasn’t just about getting from point A to point B—it was about stability, opportunity, and the ability to keep building the future she’s worked so hard for… including her hope of one day bringing her sibling into her care.

Her strength, perseverance, and heart for her family continue to inspire us.

Stories like Kayun’s are why we do what we do—and why we’re so expectant for the lives that will be impacted this month. 🚗
