🇺🇸 Veterans earned their benefits through service and sacrifice not by taking on the cost of expanding them.

The VFW has taken a strong stance on the Take Care of America’s Veterans Act as currently drafted, emphasizing that veterans’ benefits are a promise made by our nation and should not be funded through measures that place additional burdens on veterans, military families, or survivors.

As National Commander Carol Whitmore stated:
"A grateful nation pays its debts to veterans, it does not send them the invoice."

Our veterans kept their promise to America. America must keep its promise to them.

Today marks the first day of May—National Military Appreciation Month—and the first RED Friday of the month. ❤️🎗️
Today, we don’t just wear red… We wear it with purpose.
We stand in gratitude for the brave men and women serving far from home, carrying the responsibility of protecting our freedom every single day. We honor the families who serve alongside them—the spouses, children, parents, and loved ones holding strong on the home front. We recognize the sacrifices, both seen and unseen, that make our freedoms possible.
Freedom is never free. It is earned through service, defended through sacrifice, and protected by courage.
So today, and every Friday, we wear RED to send one powerful message:
