Talking about money is hard. Not talking about it may be harder. 🐾

In this month's DVM Masterclass, Dr. Sonja Olson (DVM, C-MMT), joined by Jamie Hill-Borton, tackled the emotional toll that financial barriers to care take on veterinary teams, and what practices can do about it.

The session offered a compassionate, practical framework for navigating cost conversations without burning out. A few highlights:

🔹 Moral injury vs. moral distress — repeated situations like economic euthanasia can compound into burnout and higher turnover.

We want to say thank you to our two outgoing board members, Dr. Irene Yen and Dr. Haena Lee, for their exceptional work these past few years. The time and effort that our board members put in is completely volunteer, and they do this all while being full-time veterinarians. Thankfully, this is not truly a goodbye, though, as both Irene and Haena have agreed to remain on a few committees where they will continue to shape the future of the WSVMA and our initiatives!
