The Red Bank Eisner Memorial Public Library is a free public library based out of Red Bank, New Jersey. We provide materials, information, technology and cultural opportunities to enrich, empower, educate and entertain people of all ages and backgrounds. We are proud members of the Libraries of Middlesex Automation Consortium (LMxAC).

This weeks Then and Now is a well known Red Bank Landmark. Although it was generally known as the old Red Bank Borough Hall, it was first the Shrewsbury Township Hall. Built in 1892, the building at 51 Monmouth Street was designed in the Romanesque Revival Style by local architect Robert D. Chandler. At the time, Red Bank was just a small settlement on the banks of the Navesink River. In 1870, it was recognized by the legislature as a self-governing area within Shrewsbury Township with an elected Board of Commissioners. The Township Hall originally served both Shrewsbury and Red Bank. After the legislature created Red Bank as a Borough in 1908, with its Mayor and Council, that shared arrangement continued until December 1928.
The building contained a 24 ft. by 40 ft. courtroom on the first floor and a 24 ft. by 52 ft. public hall which held 600 people on the second floor. It was used for many meetings and public activities as well as for court and Commission functions including as the first home of Congregation B'Nai Israel in 1922. The clock in the tower was paid for with a public subscription.
The building continued to serve as Red Bank Borough Hall and housed the Police station as well until 1958. Relief Engine Company #1 was added to the west side of the building in 1914.
In 1958, the Borough Hall activities moved across the street, but the Police and Fire departments continued to operate in the locations until 1997, when the Police Department moved to the current Borough Hall. The building was acquired by Red Bank Catholic High School in 2011 and is the current Fine and Performing Arts Center for the school.
