📣 Submissions are now open for our Annual Member Exhibition!

Monmouth Arts invites the creative community of Monmouth County to submit works exploring the theme of FEAST as part of our annual member exhibition. This year’s exhibit will be held at the Oyster Point Hotel in Red Bank, September 4 – November 2, with an opening reception on Friday, September 11. The deadline to submit is July 27.

With FEAST we ask artists to explore the aesthetics and implications of abundance, desire, and consumption. Inspired by the rich visual language of historical still life painting — decadent tables, ornate objects, and symbols of status — the exhibition invites artists to reinterpret these traditions through a modern lens.

We seek work that examines themes of indulgence, consumer culture, ritual, identity, appetite, inequality, pleasure, and longing. Artists are encouraged to consider both literal and metaphorical forms of consumption: what we crave, what we value, and what shapes our relationship to material and symbolic abundance.

This call for art welcomes diverse perspectives and mediums including painting, drawing, mixed media, sculpture, textile, and photography.

FEAST will be guest curated by Tova Navarra, an award-winning artist, writer, educator, and author of more than 30 books, including New Jersey Artists Through Time.

The Monmouth Arts annual member exhibit — now in its ninth year — is named in honor of Dr. Charles Sills, a painter, sculptor, collector, and longtime supporter of the arts in Monmouth County.

🗳️ TO SUBMIT:
Artists interested in submitting to FEAST must be current members of Monmouth Arts and agree to the exhibition guidelines.

⭐️ MEMBERSHIP DISCOUNT CODE:
Artists who would like to become new members and submit may use the code FEAST to receive $10 off the $40 artist membership rate.

Visit our website for more information about this opportunity and to submit!

We're excited to announce our next artist exhibit at ArtSpace, "The Sun, My Heart," by Summer Deaver.

Deaver’s collection explores the unity of opposites through contemplative mark-making, oil painting, and hand-burnished printmaking. Inspired by writings in Zen Master Thích Nhất Hạnh's book on mindfulness and the Buddhist concept of interbeing, "The Sun, My Heart" series reflects the idea that light and darkness do not cancel each other out, but merge into wholeness.

Rooted in themes of interconnection and transformation, “The Sun, My Heart” invites viewers to witness how light and shadow, stillness and movement, self and other are never truly separate.

🖼️ Upcoming exhibit at ArtSpace in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month - Pieces of Us: The Art of Creative Expression

The next upcoming exhibition at ArtSpace, Pieces of Us, celebrates artwork created through Monmouth Arts’ Creative Expressions Arts & Wellness Program. The collection brings together personal and expressive art that reflect the diverse emotions and perspectives of those who have experienced our program.

The exhibit invites viewers to engage in open, thoughtful conversations about mental health and wellness. We extend our gratitude to the artists who share their voices and creativity with the community.

Our Creative Expressions Arts & Wellness Program is a countywide initiative that uses the arts to address the rise in mental health issues in youth, seniors, and other adult populations in need. Teams of teaching artists and mental health professionals deliver free arts programs and services directly to organizations, senior centers, and schools.

☞ On view: May 7th - May 21st
☞ Gallery Hours: Tuesday and Thursday, 12pm - 4pm or by appointment
