Today, March 29 is National Vietnam War Veterans Day because it marks the day in 1973 when the last U.S. combat troops left South Vietnam and the last prisoners of war were released. It honors the 9 million Americans who served during the Vietnam era, many of whom did not receive proper recognition upon returning home. (With Google’s assistance) I, personally know many who served, and a few who never came home. God bless them and I thank them.

National Medal of Honor day is celebrated annually on March 25th. National Medal of Honor Day honors recipients of the country's highest military decoration. The date was chosen to commemorate the first Medals of Honor awarded to six Union soldiers in 1863 during the American Civil War. The word "valor" is engraved on the medal, recognizing U.S. military members who exceeded expectations. A wreath is placed at the tomb of the unknown soldier.

Tomorrow, Friday, March 13th is K9 Veterans’ Day. A day where we recognize the service and sacrifices of military and working dogs.
