💜 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

The Junior League of Reading stands with survivors recognizing October as an important time to raise awareness, support survivors, and advocate for healthy, safe relationships in our communities.

Throughout October, communities across the country come together to shine light on domestic violence and the impact it has on both individuals and families. On Purple Thursday, October 15th, we encourage our members and community to wear purple as a visible sign of support for survivors and a commitment to end domestic violence.

We are grateful for organizations such as SafeBerks, who provide free and confidential services to individuals impacted throughout Berks County. Safe Berks provides support, advocacy, shelter, and education for individuals affected by domestic violence.

Together we can raise awareness, and create a community where everyone feels safe, respected, and supported. 💜

Your mental health matters, too. 💚

Between careers, caregiving, family, friendships, and community commitments, women often find themselves carrying more than they realize. While we spend so much time caring for others, it's important to remember to prioritize our own mental health and well-being.

This World Mental Health Day, the Junior League of Reading encourages you to take a moment for yourself, set boundaries, ask for support, and remember that you don't have to do it all alone. Taking care of yourself is just as important as taking care of those around you.

Join us on Wednesday, October 14th for Every Woman, All Things, an upcoming panel discussion. We will be exploring the often invisible demands of caregiving, the impact of caregiver burnout, and practical strategies for setting boundaries, sharing responsibilities, and restoring balance. Our panelists will share their personal and professional insights to help women navigate the many roles they hold while prioritizing their own well-being.

Let's start the conversation, support one another, and remind ourselves that caring for ourselves is not selfish; it's essential. 💚
