Friends of Randolph Co. Animals We are a group of animal advocates in Randolph County, NC and surrounding areas promoting the safe rescue of animals in our community.

Welcome to our page, companion animal lovers and advocates. Please share the posts that you can, and comment about anything that may help increase awareness of the plight of these precious creatures. I appreciate any suggestions, compliments, or constructive criticism that anyone has to offer. In addition to administrators, Renee Bryant & Christi Isley, other dedicated volunteers will be posting o

n this page as well in an effort to keep you up-to-date on stray animals, adoptable & rescue-bound animals at RCAS, animal-related community activities; ordinances & laws that affect animals and/or you, as their guardians; and educational material that we think may be important to you. We are NOT the county shelter, nor a private 501c3 rescue organization. We are a few volunteers who encourage adoption and rescue of animals from our shelter. Most of our time is spent assisting rescue groups who are able to pull animals from our shelter that may need transport. NC shelters are overcrowded. Randolph County is no exception. Euthanasia occurs every few minutes in NC. Our goal is to rescue, donate, educate, volunteer, foster, and transport until euthanasia doesn't happen to a healthy animal. We have MANY reputable rescue groups and animal advocates in our area. Many posts will be shared from these organizations and individuals. If I fail to credit the source, or, if you find that information about a post should be updated feel free to correct the post in the comments or notify me, so that the information is adequate. This is a community endeavor, and I applaud your effort to educate others to be responsible pet owners. Thank you, animal welfare Guardians & Advocates. Respectfully, Renee Bryant

RESCUED BY Freedom Ride Rescue!!

SWEET MAE HAS RESCUE COMMITMENT!!

URGENT RESCUE NEEDED FOR PRECIOUS MAE BY 5/19‼️🚨RANDOLPH COUNTY NC SHELTER IS FULL🆘🆘🆘

Meet Mae!
Mae was brought to the shelter as an owner surrender. She was found as a stray in a neighborhood and the citizen had been feeding and caring for her for about 3 weeks and then brought her to the shelter. Mae is estimated to be a 1-year-old, 41lb, Bully. Upon intake the following was noted: She appeared to be limping on her rear leg and had some swelling in her hip area. She was taken to our local for an exam and the following was noted: Left coxofemoral luxation - Based on degree of muscle wasting and mild nature of lameness, chronicity of the injury is suspected. It is likely Mae has already begun to form a “false joint” to stabilize the area. Discussed next steps: Replacement of the hip within the joint is very unlikely to be successful at this point given the chronicity of Mae's injury. Discussed femoral head ostectomy surgery.
Mae is currently in heat and is receiving .5-tab ,2xday of Carprofen for pain management. She is a very friendly canine that loves to play with her canine peers. She did wonderful for her canine interaction and just wanted to play. She had the same reaction for her feline test, although the feline was a bit scared Mae just wanted to play. She does not let her injury slow her down she loves to walk and does great on a leash; she does know her basic command “Sit” and will gladly show you for a treat. Mae is curious about toys and the sounds they make but is not exactly sure how to play with them.
Please help this sweetheart find rescue! Our shelter is currently full!

The following animal needs rescue:
Mae #53159

PENDING ADOPTION!!

URGENT RESCUE NEEDED FOR SWEET SUMMER BY 5/15 RANDOLPH COUNTY SHELTER IS FULL‼️🚨🚨🚨 Meet Summer!
Summer is a gorgeous female cattle dog estimated to be 6 years old and weighs in at 56.2lbs. Unfortunately, Summer came in as a stray and was never reclaimed.

Upon intake, it was noted that although a spay tattoo cannot be located, Summer may potentially be spayed. Overall, Summer appears to be in good health. Summer has mild to moderate tartar and a few chipped teeth, including her left canine. There is a small fleshy lump under the right eye; a photo is attached. This does not seem to have any negative impact on Summer. There are no other notable body concerns.

Unfortunately, Summer was housed near a dog showing signs of upper respiratory. Although Summer herself has not shown any signs, as a precaution, we have put Summer on Doxycycline. Summer is current on her Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella vaccines and has been dewormed. Summer also tested NEGATIVE for heartworms.

Summer did great for her canine test and has been very friendly with every dog she has encountered. Summer has been incredibly friendly with all of the shelter staff and overall has been proven to be a great dog. Summer even knows the command "sit" - a video will be posted on our page which is linked below!

Summer is a wonderful dog who desperately needs out of the shelter environment!

PLEASE HELP SUMMER FIND RESCUE! OUR SHELTER IS FULL!

DUE TO CAPICITY, SUMMER HAS AN EOH OF 05/15/2026

RESCUED BY Mitchell Mill Animal Hospital Rescue!!

URGENT RESCUE NEEDED FOR THIS SWEET FAMILY BY 5/6‼️‼️‼️RANDOLPH COUNTY NC SHELTER IS FULL🚨🚨🚨 Meet Angel + puppies!
Angel is an estimated 3-year-old female Anatolian Shepherd mix weighing only 50.4 pounds. Angel's babies are estimated 2 weeks and 4 days old.
Angel is, well, exactly that! An Angel! Angel was turned in after giving birth under a citizen’s porch. Unfortunately, Angel arrived in very thin body condition. Upon intake it was noted that Angel has mild tartar on her teeth and a small amount of debris in the ears. Besides being underweight, Angel appears to be in good health and gave birth to 8 beautiful puppies (4 males 4 females), all of which also appear to be in good health. We have estimated the puppies to be 2 weeks and 4 days. Angel does have one puppy who has a small knot on the top of her head. The knot is slightly scrabbed/crusty skin. We are unsure of the cause, but it does not seem to have any sort of negative impact on the puppy. We are continuing to monitor. Despite this, all puppies appear to be in good health and are functioning appropriately for their age.
Angel is current on her Bordetella, Distemper, and her Rabies vaccines. Angel has been started on a 5-day round of Panacur for deworming and Angel has tested negative for heartworms. All 8 puppies have been dewormed, as well. Angel is a sweet but shy mama who did well for her canine test but desperately wanted to get back to her babies. Due to Angel showing clear signs of stress when removed from her babies, we have yet to complete a feline interaction test. Angel has done fantastic with everyone she has encountered and is a great mom.
Please help us find rescue placement for sweet Angel and her babies! Our shelter is full!
Due to our current capacity, Angel and her babies have been given an EOH of 05/06/2026.
The following animals are in need of rescue:
Angel 53012 + 8 puppies
Unaltered female Anatolian Shepherd mix
Angel estimated 3 years
Puppies estimated 2 weeks 4 days
4 males 4 females
Angel tested negative for heartworms
