π Taking Forensic Peer Support Beyond Minnesota!
From August 25β28, we had another incredible group join us virtually for our Forensic Endorsement Training: The Criminal Justice Systems β A Guide to Understanding Corrections, Reentry & Effective Partnerships.
What made this group especially exciting was that half of our participants joined us from California! They came ready to learn, engage, and explore how this type of justice-specific Peer Recovery Support work can be brought back and expanded in their own communities.
Over four days, we explored corrections, incarceration, reentry, supervision, trauma, professional boundaries, effective partnerships, and how Recovery Coaches can use their lived experience to better support people navigating the criminal justice system.
Forensic Peer Support is about understanding that justice-involved individuals often face barriers that traditional recovery services alone may not address. When we combine lived experience with specialized knowledge of the criminal justice system, we can meet people where they are and help them successfully navigate both recovery and reentry.
We are incredibly excited to see this work continue growing; not only here in Minnesota, but across the country.
A huge thank you to everyone who spent four days learning, sharing, and challenging themselves with us. And to our California crew, we can't wait to see what you do with it! πͺ
