PSA: If a current office holder or candidate running for office receives an endorsement from an organization and they share that endorsement, whether on social media, print materials, website or ads, they by extension support the values of that organization.

An exception to this rule is if the office holder or candidate receives an unsolicited endorsement and does not share it or outright rejects the endorsement, they can’t be tied to the values of the endorser.

Clearly, if elected officials and those running take donations from an organization, they approve of their values.

These points are just common sense.

As a result of our pressure campaign via Hi Impact, doing community events, mobilizing of “WE THE PEOPLE”, calls, emails, door knocking and protests against the Duke Energy NC rate increase, they went from 18% to 11.7% to an average annual increase of about 7.1% over 2 years in total. We're pushing for a 3-5% increase max, in total over 2 years. We’re almost there! News link below.

Initially we wanted it below double digits. We got there! Now we're push for a 3-5% max increase. Following negotiations and feedback, the utility has reduced its request to average annual increases of about 3.4% to 3.7% per year over 2 years.

"For a typical residential customer using 1,000 kilowatts per month, the monthly bill would rise $9.62 effective in January and then followed by $5.89 increase in January 2028," said Kendal Bowman, President of Duke Energy's utility operations in North Carolina said.

Duke Energy & RE Taxes Event 7/16/26 (Cary)

Great job all in making this happen! The speakers were great, the questions as well from attendees were deep. We could have kept talking about both topics for 1 hour each without Q/A. But in particular Duke and how they operate, hit many and the why and how rates are calculated. We still have time to hit the NC Public Utilities commission on lowering the proposed rate hike that could be voted on in Sept 2026.
