Plumas CASA is offering a series of 4 Daddy & Me cooking classes. These classes are geared toward children ages 5 and older and are designed to provide a fun and supportive space for dads and their children to spend quality time together while building healthy connections through cooking and shared experiences.

Limited space is available. Because space is limited, we want to ensure that families who sign up are committed to attending the classes. Priority will be given to participants who are able to commit to attending all 4 sessions. Register Here: https://forms.gle/Fp1PYuggT2jZ8fch8

A special thank you to the Child Abuse Prevention Council for funding this activity!

Yesterday, the California Assembly released its latest budget framework, specifically identifying support for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) as a Public Safety budget priority to help ensure California’s most vulnerable children have a trusted voice in the system. We are grateful for the Assembly’s support and proud to have stood alongside our budget champion Assemblymember Mia Bonta on CASA Appreciation Day, recognizing the transformative statewide impact CASA volunteers have in the lives of children and youth in the foster care and juvenile justice systems.

Happy CASA Appreciation Day to all of our amazing CASA advocates across the state!

Happy CASA Appreciation Day to all of our AMAZING advocates!

The California State Legislature has recognized today as CASA Appreciation Day, sponsored by Senator Tom Umberg, which celebrates the important role that CASA volunteers play in supporting children in foster care across the state. 🌟

“It’s an honor for our CASA volunteers to be recognized and celebrated by the State Legislature," shares Vince Hall, our CEO. “All 44 of our local CASA programs across the state are working to ensure that every child in our foster care and juvenile justice systems is seen, heard, and supported each day. In a system defined by turnover and transition, the consistent presence of CASA volunteers is a lifeline for children and youth.”

Pictured here (L to R): Senator Umberg; Kathryn Mathews, our Chief Program Officer; Marie Kennedy, our Board Chair; Vince Hall; Erika Pedersen, Chief Development Officer at CASA OC; Jenny Leon, Chief Program Officer at CASA OC; and Todd Smith, Board Secretary at CASA OC.

In honor of CASA Appreciation Day, we are excited to partner with CASA Sacramento to host a lunch and learn at the Capitol this afternoon, sponsored by Assemblymember Maggy Krell. Community members interested in learning more about how to join the CASA community are encouraged to attend.

Last week, Plumas CASA Program Manager, Ashley Simpson, attended the 2026 Foster Youth Education Summit with community partners, including the Plumas County Office of Education, Plumas County Social Services, and Plumas County Probation, to learn how to better serve foster youth in Plumas County.

We had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with Dr. Jaiya John, who has written many books, including Beautiful: A Poetic Celebration of Displaced Children; Dee Hankins, an inspirational speaker who shared his personal journey through foster care and the power of resilience; and the amazing Lily Colby, who founded the National Network for Fostering Sibling Connections.

We had an amazing time soaking it all in and look forward to bringing what we learned back to support foster youth in Plumas County!

Plumas CASA is proud to team up with Emmy Dupras for her senior project for Quincy JrSr High School.

Emmy wanted to help spread the word about CASA and the powerful difference volunteers make for children in Plumas County. During Child Abuse Prevention Month, this project is a great reminder that everyone can play a role in supporting kids and families.

Come see us at CAREY CANDY Co. tomorrow from 8:30–9:30am, try one of the specialty drinks Emmy created, and learn more about how CASA gives children a voice. The drinks will be available all week!

Sweet drinks. Strong advocacy. Community support.
