Wow, we are still feeling the excitement from a hugely successful outpouring of love and support after Friday’s 25 Year Anniversary Open House event. What a beautiful way to celebrate 25 years of Child Protect! 💙💛

Our 25th Anniversary Open House on Friday was filled with so many of the people who have made our journey possible — friends, family, Board members, community partners, supporters, former and current staff, and so many wonderful people who believe in the work we do for children and families in our community.

For 25 years, Child Protect has been honored to stand alongside children and families, and Friday was a wonderful reminder that we never do this work alone. Our community has been there with us every step of the way.

A very special THANK YOU to everyone who supported our 25 Rooms for 25 Years Campaign! Because of your generosity, we were able to far surpass our goal of sponsoring the rooms and spaces in our two offices. Each sponsorship represents more than a room — it represents a commitment to creating safe, welcoming spaces where children can heal, families can find support, and hope can grow.

To every person who attended our open house, made a donation, shared a memory, supported our work, served on our Board, partnered with us, volunteered, referred a family, encouraged our staff, or simply believed in our mission — thank you. 🤍

We are incredibly grateful for the people who have helped make these first 25 years possible, and we are even more excited about what the next 25 years will bring.

Here’s to the next chapter of Child Protect! 🎉💙💛

A separate thank you to the small businesses who helped make our event extra special. Next Level Events provided the marquee 25, Caitlyn Creates & Celebrates donated her time for the beautifully built balloon arch, and Sugar Magnolia baked the most delicious and gorgeous 25 cake. Thank you!

Our very own Kylee O’Dell completed NCAC Forensic Interview training last week. We can’t wait to see the impact she has in the interview chair with kiddos in our community.

Way to go, Kylee! 👏👏

This week, we welcomed forensic interviewing professionals from 14 states to the NCAC for training in Huntsville. There’s something pretty special about bringing people together from across the country to learn, share experiences, and strengthen the work being done for children and families in their own communities.

And this is just one of many opportunities to learn with us throughout the year! Join us here in Huntsville or take part in one of our virtual trainings; there are plenty of opportunities to continue building your skills and connecting with professionals from across the country.

And, of course, no class photo is complete without Marvin. 🐾💙

25 years.

That’s 25 years of kids, families, staff, board members, community partners, events, trainings, fundraisers, friendships, laughter, hard work…and A LOT of photographs. 😂

As we celebrate our 25th anniversary, we’ve been digging through the archives—and let’s just say, there are some things that have changed quite a bit over the years.

The buildings have changed.
The programs have grown.
The technology has definitely changed.
And many of us have changed right along with them.

But the heart of Child Protect? That hasn’t changed one bit.

Over the years, we’ve:

🦃 Created hundreds of little works of art with Turkey Hands
🎒 Packed backpacks and brought the community together for Backpack Bashes
👶 Celebrated new parents through Community Baby Showers
🏌️ Hit the greens at golf tournaments
👨‍🍳 Battled it out at Chef’s Battle
🎤 Gathered professionals for our annual Responding to Child Abuse Symposiums
🧡 Taught children and families about body safety
📚 Gathered our own team for trainings, learning, and growing together
🏠 Opened new buildings, expanded our spaces, and created new opportunities to serve
💪Conducted forensic interviews, provided therapy and advocacy support to victims, supported families through supervised visitation, served our community through clothing closets and food pantries
🤝 Built relationships and partnerships that have lasted for decades
💙 And leaned on the incredible support of our community through all of it

And then there are the memories that don't fit neatly into a list.

We’ve watched staff members get married, welcome babies, retire, change careers, and begin completely new chapters. We’ve welcomed new faces who have become an important part of our story. We’ve celebrated longtime team members and cheered on those whose journeys eventually took them somewhere new.

We’ve welcomed new board members, said goodbye to others, and watched community leaders continue to invest their time and hearts into this mission.

We’ve made it through some really hard seasons—including COVID-19—and figured out how to keep showing up for children and families even when the world around us looked completely different.

We’ve laughed together.
We’ve learned together.
We’ve grown together.

And through 25 years of changes, one thing has remained constant:

People keep showing up for children.

Our staff. Our board. Our multidisciplinary partners. Our volunteers. Our donors. Our community. The people who attend our events, sponsor our programs, teach our children, support our families, answer the phone, sit in meetings, share our posts, make a donation, bring a team to a golf tournament, cook at Chef’s Battle, or simply say, “How can I help?”

Those people are the story of Child Protect.

So, for the next little while, we’re going to take a walk down memory lane. 📸

We’ll be pulling out the old photos, revisiting some favorite events, remembering the people who helped build Child Protect, and celebrating just how far we’ve come.

And we want you to take the walk with us. ❤️

If you see yourself, a friend, a former coworker, a familiar face, an old event, or a memory you’d forgotten about—tell us about it! We’d love to hear your memories, too.

And while we’re looking back, we hope you’ll join us as we celebrate this milestone in person! 🎉
