We’re lucky to have Louis on the PAED board. He brings the perspective of a longtime downtown business owner, a music educator, and someone who keeps showing up for this community. Louis, thank you for everything you bring to Pottstown and to PAED.

Congratulations to Louis Rieger, Kristyn Rieger, and everyone at The High Street Music Company on 20 years! Louis has taught generations of musicians, programmed music for Pottstown GoFourth celebrations, Fete En Blanc, and played in every Pottstown High School musical since the productions returned.

It is not within the purview of Pottstown Area Economic Development (PAED) to decide which group or individual gets the poles being vacated that is the prerogative of Borough Council.

_________________________________________________________________________

I’d like to take a moment to thank Borough Council for its continued support of economic development in Pottstown over the years. One example has been Council’s support for the I Pick Pottstown banners, which have helped the business community present a unified and positive message about our borough.

The Pottstown Area Economic Development Board is aware of recent public discussion about alternative uses for the banner space. We understand Borough Council retains responsibility for determining how the public space can best serve the community. The PAED Board therefore voted unanimously to authorize me to publicly communicate that, while we sincerely appreciate Council’s support, we would fully support repurposing the space should Council determine that another use would better meet Pottstown’s current needs.

There is no doubt that a strong common desire exists among residents, businesses, community organizations and elected officials to continue to strengthen this town to reach its full potential. PAED is a committed community partner prepared to explore new and creative ways to promote Pottstown and its business community as part of that effort.

Again, we thank Borough Council for its continued support and hope this position provides greater flexibility as Council considers future opportunities.

We got a tour of the former factory at 274 N. Hanover Street that is being redeveloped into 85 market-rate apartments by Dwight City Group.

Expected to be available by the end of this calendar year, the project represents meaningful adaptive reuse and new housing investment near downtown Pottstown. Bringing residents to this walkable corridor can help strengthen the local economy and support nearby businesses.
