🕒 It’s always time to create at POWER! 🎨⚙️
This enrichment rotation, our makerspace students turned their creativity into functional analog clocks! From colorful clock faces to moving hands, they made one-of-a-kind creations that do more than look good—they actually tell time! 🙌
Hands-on learning, student creativity, and time well spent at the POWER after-school program! 💡

P.O.W.E.R. Culinary students made chicken and cheese quesadillas yesterday! They are using teamwork and communication to help keep the kitchen running smoothly. They had to gather ingredients, heat up the chicken, prep their quesadillas, and cook them. After enjoying their snacks, they all had to close down the kitchens by washing, drying, and putting away the dishes as well as cleaning the counters. Next week we are looking forward to baking some cookies!

Building math fluency doesn't have to mean endless flashcards and rote memorization. Multiplication towers turn abstract multiplication facts into a hands-on, visual experience that helps students truly grasp why numbers work the way they do. This kinesthetic approach builds spatial reasoning, boosts fact retention through active engagement, and turns practicing times tables into a rewarding challenge.

Last week our culinary students cooked their second breakfast! They worked together to make bacon, eggs, and toast. This is an easy budget friendly meal that the students can make at home with their families. Besides, who doesn't like breakfast for dinner?
This week our rockstar chefs will be cooking quesadillas!

At Power After School, we celebrate every voice and every way students communicate. Whether someone uses spoken words, an AAC device, pictures, gestures, sign language, or another communication method, their thoughts matter.
Our students are helping spread the message: AAC is communication—and communication is a right.
Thank you to our students for sharing what inclusion, understanding, and respectful communication look like in our program.

In Maker Space the students have been learning about analog clocks, the components, and how to tell time on one. Today the Thursday group began creating their own by designing their clock face with an acrylic paint "dirty pour" method. Next week they will be coating them with polyurethane before adding the clock hands and mechanism so that they have a clock of their own to take home.
