🥊 DING DING DING — It’s Round 2 for Kristin & Justin Piatt! 🥊

Kristin and Justin have come back to our rescue to adopt their second kitten, and this time little Okra is the lucky one! 🐾💙

Congratulations on your newest family member, Okra, the handsome boy from the “Ormond PD 4” litter!

Kristin first adopted Glitzy from the “Grove 10” litter back in February 2026 after the heartbreaking loss of their beloved 17-year-old cat. After some time, they realized Glitzy could use a playful companion and patiently waited for the perfect match to come along.

We’re so happy they chose a little brother for her!

Just a few days after the adoption, Kristin was already sending us photos of the pair and they had become BESTIES almost instantly! Seeing them bond so quickly absolutely made our day. ❤️Photos of the duo shown here.

📖 Okra’s Story

Okra and his three siblings were found outside the Ormond Beach Police Department alongside their homeless mama cat. Thanks to Randie Zimmerman, their mama was rescued, spayed, and placed in a safe home.
The four kittens then came into our rescue’s care, where we were able to help them find the loving families they deserved.

Today, Okra has gained a new sister, a wonderful family, and an amazing forever home with the Piatts! 🏡🐱

Thank you, Kristin and Justin, for opening your hearts once again and giving another rescue kitten the life he deserves. We couldn’t be happier for all of you!

Every cat is fixed, vaccinated, and a new dose of flea prevention and deworming was recently done.

🔹Mario- male black and white. He has lots of personality and is super social. He is easy to hold and is quite the talker.

🔹Frankie- male gray tabby He is a sweet boy that would like more attention than he had in his previous life. He is also easy to hold.

🔹Little Lily- female black cat. She is still very young and loves to be pet. She deserves a good home!!!

🔹Peggy- female young cat with 3 legs! She can be shy at first but does warm up well.

🔹Simba- tabby male cat with lots of white. We think he may be around 9 years old. Such a sweet boy.

Ranger- Blake male cat full of personality . He loves to be held and pet. Very social kitty.

No adoption fee. Just looking for stable and loving homes! They deserve better than what they had. They long for more attention!

Candace was a HUGE part of the TNR community (Trap-Neuter-Return) and spent years helping so many people and cats. She had a very difficult time letting go of the cats she was helping, and unfortunately, that has left us with an overwhelming situation.

Candace Park passed away after a battle with breast cancer, leaving behind 55 cats in her home.

Candace was a HUGE part of the TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) community and spent years helping countless people and cats. She had a very difficult time letting go of the cats she was helping, and unfortunately, that left us with an overwhelming situation after her passing.

But little by little, these cats are finding safety, love, and new beginnings. 🥹❤️

10 more down… and we’re making progress! So many more to go, but we will keep going! 💪🐾

🐈‍⬛️Liberty (Mr T), the little black kitten with the inured leg, has been adopted!

Congratulations Vickie and Terry Sims on the adoption of Mr T! Vickie was searching for a companion for her resident kitty Tiffany, and a coworker sent her our way! While searching on our site, she found Mr T and reached out to us for more information on him. Mr T still needed a few more weeks of recovery with his foster Dr Nancy, but Vickie and Terry patiently waited for him until he was ready. They drove down to our Cocoa location to meet him, and well...the rest is history.

Since being adopted, Mr T has settled in well with his new fur sister Tiffany. He is very playful and active, and can't get enough of all the special toys and towers he has in his new home. He's one lucky kitty!

Thank you Vickie and Terry for adopting this handsome little house panther!

Mr T has now been renamed Valentino, Tino for short.

Mr T originally showed up at the shelter back in June with several other kitties in a cardboard box by the intake door. Luckily, staff got them inside and safe quickly. He went to foster care but was later returned with an injury to his front leg. We rescued him to help him recover, and he went directly to say with his foster Dr Nancy (thank you Dr Nancy!) Fortunately, his leg healed without any intervention! We are happy he came to us and could get to go to an amazing new home.

my mother and I had her for since she was a baby. There has been huge changes in my life when my mother passed away and I am unable to keep her . This is so hard but really hope I can find her an awesome home where she will be loved.

Personality (shy, social, likes to be held, lap cat? Likes or dislikes): she can be shy at first, but warms up once she gets to know you. She isn’t use to being held so doesn’t like it but the rescue lady said she can learn to like it if done every day. She loves her treats and hanging out on the patio. She also loves to sleep and play! And be pet!

Any Supplies that go with pet (food, litter, leash, cat box, bedding, toys): pet food and litter

What food is the cat eating (dry only, dry and wet): dry and wet-
:::::::::::Please know that cats need canned wet food given DAILY. Why? Because cats have a low thirst drive and actually NEED the moisture from the wet food! Wet food is 75 % water (dry FOOD only 10%) and giving them wet food daily will help them avoid Urinary tract issues (which can lead to litter box avoidance), kidney disease, obesity issues linked to diabetes and cardiac issues. You will save on vet bills too! Limit the overly processed dry foodand ensure cat eats all the wet food daily. At the VERY minimum each cat should get one 3oz. can of wet food a day or HALF of a 5.5oz. can a day (although we recommend double this).

*Please know, that when you bring your newly adopted cat or kitten home, it is always BEST to place him/her in a very small room (bathroom works great) with their litter box, food, water, and bed for a few days to a few weeks. This way the animal can adjust much quicker and get acclimated to the new environment with less stress. All cats/kittens need time to adjust, so if you adopt please allow this. Thank you.

Chance finally has some relief and his hair is growing back in nicely!

Problem is...he can't keep taking this "cure" forever 😕

Chance has been on a low dose of steroids to help with his fur mowing and overgrooming. While on these meds, his fur along his backside has started to fill in and he seems more comfortable. But, Chance has FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) and being on steroids long term is risky because it lowers his immune system (It's actually not good for any cat to stay on them long term although sometimes it's the only solution ).

Chance is on a special diet, and has taken antihistamines and gabapentin. We did allergy testing but it did not show any major triggers.

Our next option is to see a dermatologist, where they will do more extensive allergy testing to see what may be causing him to be itchy. We do have an appointment for him to do so, but couldn't get in until October.

For now, Chance is safe and loved. His foster mom Maria is doing an amazing job with him, trying different combinations of things to see what brings him the most relief. Thank you Maria for taking such great care of him!

Chance showed up at the shelter back in the fall of 2024, but was released back outside when he wasn't adopted. He showed back up at the shelter with breathing issues last summer. He wasn't adopted again, so he was at risk of being put back outside again. We rescued him and he was adopted a little later. His adopter was unable to keep him and he's been back with us in foster care since around Christmas time.

We just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for your incredible support with Candace’s 55 cats. ❤️

We have tried to thank everyone individually, but we wanted to share this message as well in case we missed anyone.

Thank you for the food, litter, supplies, and monetary donations! Thank you to everyone who has been reaching out on our behalf about possible placement opportunities and even sending emails for us. This helps more than you know!

And to everyone who has shared our posts—thank you! Sharing is absolutely HUGE in helping us get the exposure these cats need.

There is just no way we could do this without everyone’s support.

A special thank you to Ruby for paying a vet bill and the electric bill at Candace’s. We also want to thank Scott Ross at Rossi’s Heating and Air Conditioning in Port Orange, FL, who came over to look at Candace’s AC unit when it wasn’t working. Thankfully, it only needed a good cleaning, and he generously did not charge us.

Dr. Abreu at Halifax Veterinary Clinic in Port Orange has also been absolutely amazing. We are so grateful for all of the care and support.

We are currently making arrangements to transport approximately 16–18 cats to Colorado, which is wonderful news. However, we still desperately need help finding placement for the friendly cats. Due to the mobile home going into foreclosure, we just don’t have endless time unfortunately.
