FOSTER-FAILURE ALERT 🚨!

Congratulations to Chelsea Murray on the OFFICIAL ADOPTION of Dango Frosty! ❤️🐾

Chelsea contacted our rescue about fostering Dango Frosty, a cat who was adopted by a lady named Patricia back in 2018. After Patricia unexpectedly passed away, Dango found himself back in our rescue’s care.

Dango Frosty was used to a VERY, VERY QUIET environment, which, unfortunately, we couldn’t offer him. So, we began searching for a quiet foster home where he could feel safe and thrive.

Well, we found it with Chelsea Murray! ❤️

After talking to this kind soul over the phone, we just had a feeling this could actually become his permanent home. So, before he left with her to foster, we took a few photos and videos (shown here) to document the beginning of his new chapter.

We checked in with Chelsea over time, and whenever someone expressed interest in adopting Dango, she would tell us he still needed more time to adjust. 😉

But what was really happening? Deep down, we think she already knew he was ALREADY HOME! 🥰

And then, she finally told us…

“He’s staying with us!” ❤️

Chelsea also had this to say:

“Hey.. Ummm yeah.. he’s pretty much wormed his way in.. they (other cats) all sleep on the bed at night and play chase. Plus he’s a cuddle bug and I love him.”

“He likes to hide under the bed and attack toes..but no claws. He’s such a sweet cat. Curious and gets the zoomies. He is much loved 🥰. Guess I’m a foster failure lol…. 😊”

😂❤️ Oh, Chelsea! We think Dango knew exactly what he was doing!

Thank you, Chelsea, for being so patient and kind and for allowing Dango Frosty to adjust at his own pace. Sometimes, the best thing we can do for a cat is give them the time and space they need to feel comfortable and secure.

We are so happy that Dango has found a home where he is loved, understood, and surrounded by feline friends. We couldn’t have asked for a better outcome for this sweet boy!

CONGRATULATIONS to Claude Huc for the MOST UPDATES EVERRRRRR! 🎉

In all 17 years of rescue, we have NEVER had an adopter share as many updates and photos of their adopted cats as Claude has! ❤️ We couldn’t keep all that cuteness to ourselves, so we wanted to share some of his many photos with all of you!

Let’s recap the stories of his two favorite felines! 🐱🐱

❤️ ATHENA was part of the “Dumped 13” and was adopted by Claude back in 2021. Athena and 20 other cats 😡were taken from an elderly woman’s home by three individuals who claimed they were taking them to a sanctuary. Sadly, it was later discovered that the cats had been dumped OUTSIDE in three different cities across Volusia County, Florida.

On Christmas Eve, I made a post asking for volunteers to help search for and trap these cats. In the end, 13 cats were found, and Athena was one of them! What a heartbreaking beginning, but look at the wonderful life she has now! ❤️

💙 DUKE was one of the “Roslyn 17” — a group of 17 kittens born to 4 mama cats living outside a home on Roslyn Avenue in New Smyrna Beach. We took in all 17 kittens & found them homes, and all 4 mama cats were spayed!

Fast-forward to today, and Claude LOVES HIS KITTIES! 🥰 He even has an entire room dedicated to them! He regularly shares updates and photos with us, and we absolutely LOVE seeing how happy and loved Athena and Duke are. The two have become the BEST OF FRIENDS! 😻

And Claude’s kindness doesn’t stop with his own cats. He has also reached out to us while helping stray cats and kittens in need. It’s always wonderful to see someone who cares so much about animals, whether they’re his own or ones he comes across who need a helping hand.

Claude, THANK YOU for giving Athena and Duke such a wonderful life! Thank you for the endless updates, the countless photos, and, most importantly, the love and care you give these two lucky kitties. We appreciate you more than you know! ❤️

After almost 4 months of waiting for his visit...Chance finally got to see the dermatologist! (Ways to help below⬇️)

Chance, our special itchy boy, was rescued over a year ago just before he was set to be released back outside where he was found. We got him into our care, and he was adopted very quickly!

Unfortunately, Chance has had skin issues almost the entire time we have had him. His adopter made many vet visits to try and help him. Due to unforseen circumstances, his adopter could no longer keep him and he had to be placed into foster care with the rescue again.

His foster mom Maria has had Chance since December, and we've been trying to figure out his itchiness ever since. We've tried baths, special diets, flea prevention, and even blood based allergy testing. Nothing has really shown a specific reason for his continued itch.

Because we had done so much prior to the dermatologist visit, we aren't really left with many new options. Chance is FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus)positive, which means he has a weakened immune system. The options available for itchy animals are Apoquel, Atopica, and steroids. All of these weaken the immune system even more, so they aren't the best choices for any animal (especially for FIV cats). However, sometimes they end up being the only thing that helps.

The only other option is to do allergy testing (skin based instead of blood). The dermatologist would then make a "potion" for Chance to take based on anything he is allergic to (technical term is immunotherapy). He would take this for the rest of his life. It would take 6-12 months to show any improvement. It doesn't work with every animal. And, he would still have to take it in conjunction with Atopica, Apoquel and steroids. The cost of this testing and potions is around $1100, with an annual cost of around $900 per year just for the immunotherapy (this does not include any skin testing or recheck fees at the dermatologist).

Maria and I decided together that we would get Chance started on a dose of steroids to help him with his itch IMMEDIATELY (she let me know he wasn't overgrooming the very next day after starting it). At this time, we are not pursuing the advanced allergy testing and want to see if we can get Chance comfortable on the lowest dose possible of the steroid.

Our number one priority is Chance's quality of life. We want him to be comfortable. We will continue to work towards the best plan for him to be comfortable and happy.

Chance originally showed up at the shelter in 2024. He wasn't adopted and was released back outside. He showed back up at the shelter last summer after being found on someone's porch with breathing issues. We rescued him before he was released back outside a second time.

❤️🐾 CONGRATULATIONS TO COZRA & JOE TAYLOR ON THE ADOPTION OF PAUL McCATNEY!! 🐾❤️ His official happy-tail!

Paul McCatney’s story: Two weeks into working to find homes for Candace’s 55 cats, Paul McCATNey appeared, covered in quite a LOT of wounds. 💔

Shannon, the lady tending to these cats daily, told us she had found him hiding in a closet, which had become his safe place😢.

He wasn’t hiding because he was afraid of humans. In fact, I think he was probably the MOST social cat out of all 55! Rather, I believe he was being bullied by some of the other cats in the home, and that closet had become his refuge.

Once we began moving cats into separate rooms, Paul McCatney finally felt safe enough to come out of hiding. ❤️

And let me tell you… Paul was MY FAVORITE. 🥹When we met he rubbed up against my face, putting his paws gently on me for more pettings!

I’m not going to lie and say I was completely happy when he found his forever home. 😂 I came pretty close to keeping him myself! Plus, he’s ALL BLACK, which is my favorite shade of feline. 🖤🐈‍⬛

But as much as I loved this boy, I’m SO happy he found such an awesome home with Cozra and Joe!

And this is what Cozra had to say about life with Paul McCatney:

“He’s an honorary little thing! Every night when I go to lay down to go to bed, he gets into everything! He follows me around and he kneads a lot like he is happy. He’s definitely a lover. My husband and I are both enjoying him and he is getting better with our dog.” ❤️

Oh, Paul. From hiding in a closet, covered in wounds, to following your human around, making biscuits, and getting comfortable with your new family. 🥹❤️ THIS is what we wanted for you!

CANDACE’S 55 CATS — THE STORY- incase you missed it

Candace Park passed away after a battle with breast cancer, leaving behind 55 cats in her home.

Candace was a huge part of the TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) community and spent years helping countless cats and people. She had a hard time letting go of on cats who needed help, and sadly, that left behind an overwhelming situation that we worked hard to resolve (yes, all 55 cats are now placed)!!

Happy home McCatney! So happy you found your people!

🐾❤️ THE OFFICIAL HAPPY-TAIL STORY OF THERESA COOKIE! ❤️🐾

We wanted to share the OFFICIAL happy-tail story of Theresa Cookie, the girl who spent over 100 days waiting for her forever home! 🏡

Congratulations to Anthony Voisin on adopting this very special little Cookie! ❤️ He drove over 1.5 hours to meet her and take her home! Their meet-and-greet was so special as they bumped noses and she played with her favorite carrot. 🥕🥹

We’ve received a ton of updates since then, and everything is going wonderfully! We even had someone else who considered adopting Theresa Cookie buy her a HUGE play carrot, which I ended up shipping down to her new home! 😂🥕❤️

If you don’t remember her story, here it is again:

Theresa Cookie was rushed to the emergency vet when she couldn’t deliver one of her babies and needed a life-saving C-section. After recovering, she found her way into rescue, where she quickly earned the nickname “Mother Theresa.” She not only cared for her own kittens but also lovingly helped raise orphaned babies who needed a mom. ❤️

She was adopted once, and we truly believed it was her forever home. Sadly, life took an unexpected turn when her adopter lost both her job and her home, and Theresa Cookie came back to us.

After waiting over 100 days for her second chance, Anthony drove all that way to meet her and, after just one meeting, said, “You’re going home with me.” ❤️

We loved this special girl so much and you may be able to tell with all the photos we shared. While it’s never easy to say goodbye, our hearts are full knowing she’s exactly where she’s meant to be. She’s safe and loved!

Happy forever, sweet Theresa Cookie! You waited a long time for your human, and it was worth every second. 🏡🐾❤️

🐱✨ DICKENS FOUND HIS FOREVER HOME! ✨🐱

Congratulations to Michele Wallace and daughter Savannah on welcoming this beautiful kitten into their home. They are NO strangers to Furry Nation Salvation and adopted two from us back in 2020! So they came back to adopt again!

We sent her a video of little Dickens curled up in my daughter’s bed and that was all it took and they were ready to meet him.
Of course the meet and greet went well, and now Dickens is happy in their home!

📖 Dicken’s Story

Dicken’s is part of the “95 Alive” litter. He and his siblings were discovered abandoned in a blue bin on the side of the highway. A kind young woman brought the kittens to my fire station, and with a bottle, kitten formula, and lots of love, I took them under my wing and helped them grow into healthy, happy kittens.

🐾 HAPPY NEWS! OATS & ORVILLE WERE ADOPTED TOGETHER!!! ❤️❤️

Congratulations to Andrew & Elizabeth Dalton! 🎉

When we brought out the kitten they came to meet (Oats), they quickly learned that his brother, Orville, was still waiting for a home — and the two were pretty dang bonded! 🥹

They asked to see the other kitten, too, and then came the magic words…

“WE HAVE TO TAKE BOTH!” ❤️❤️❤️

We couldn’t be more thrilled!!

The Dalton family already has 3 cats (ages 20, 3, and 1) and 3 kids at home, so what’s adding a couple more felines to the mix?? 😉😂

📖 Orville & Oats’ Story

Orville, Oats, and their siblings were found outside the Ormond Beach Police Department alongside their homeless mama cat. Thanks to Randie Zimmerman, their mama was rescued, spayed, and placed in a safe home. ❤️
The four kittens then came into our rescue’s care, where we helped them find the loving families they deserved.

We are so grateful the Dalton family opened their hearts to TWO little kitties who get to stay together! 🐱🐱❤️ Yeah!!

The Dalton family shared these adorable photos towards the end and had this to say:

“They are doing amazing! They still love sleeping together, but they also love naps with their stripy big brother. They love playing with their other big brother and getting cleaned by their ‘momma’ kitty, my oldest.

Orville definitely enjoys the lazier parts of life, while Oats loves playing and causing the best kind of chaos. 🤣

We decided to keep their names as is. Although Oats has gotten a few nicknames, like Oatmeal and Honey Bunches! 🤣 Orville we sometimes call Uncle Orville, from The Carousel of Progress at Disney.”

😂 Oatmeal and Honey Bunches?! And Uncle Orville?! We LOVE it!

We couldn’t be happier knowing these two boys are settling in, making friends with their new feline siblings, and still getting to snuggle together every day. ❤️

What food is the cat eating (dry only, dry and wet): friskies shreds wet food, friskies dry food

::::::::Please know that cats need canned wet food given DAILY. Why? Because cats have a low thirst drive and actually NEED the moisture from the wet food! Wet food is 75 % water (dry FOOD only 10%) and giving them wet food daily will help them avoid Urinary tract issues (which can lead to litter box avoidance), kidney disease, obesity issues linked to diabetes and cardiac issues. You will save on vet bills too! Limit the overly processed dry food and ensure cat eats all the wet food daily. At the VERY minimum each cat should get one 3oz. can of wet food a day or HALF of a 5.5oz. can a day (although we recommend double this).

*Please know, that when you bring your newly adopted cat or kitten home, it is always BEST to place him/her in a very small room (bathroom works great) with their litter box, food, water, and bed for a few days to a few weeks. This way the animal can adjust much quicker and get acclimated to the new environment with less stress. All cats/kittens need time to adjust, so if you adopt please allow this. Thank you.
