AWA is participating in the Broome County Parks & Rec Department Scarecrow Contest and Display. Board members and a special “junior board member” worked to put up a “Growing Acceptance” scarecrow. We hope you’ll go check out all of the scarecrows at Otsiningo Park.

Alive With Autism had a fun time at the Rumble Ponies game last night. Sara and I enjoyed meeting and talking to the families who stopped by our table. Thank you to Advocates for Autism for inviting us to be a part of this wonderful community event. ⚾️
Thank you also to the Rumble Ponies for supporting “Autism Appreciation Night” at the ballpark.

Visual strategies to use when feeling overwhelmed. Take deep breaths, count, go for a walk, take a break. For parents and caregivers these can be helpful for you too. Sometimes you need a break 😊
When your child can’t verbally express how they are feeling here is an example to help support them. Are you happy, sad, mad, or tired? Read it, point to picture, and give them time to process.
