Uniting people, resources, and partners to improve lives across Mid & South Jefferson County. The United Way of MSJC has three lines of service;
1.

Together, we create lasting change for our neighbors.
🌐 www.unitedwaymsjc.org Seven Initiatives that provide services to the community and address community needs focusing on early literacy, workforce readiness, poverty/homelessness, and volunteerism
2. Community Investment Grants support more than 20 organizations and 35 programs with funds to address the needs of the community. Grantees go through and extensive review process annually by a volunteer committee. The Committee reviews the overall health, stability, governance and need for each program seeking assistance. The application review includes an in-depth study of each applicants mission, financials, outcome measurements, purpose, a site visit, and interview.
3. Engagement & collaboration of the community to support those in need is our third line of service. Encouraging every member of the community to get involved and invest in our community through advocacy, volunteering, and/or donating. Through our engagement & collaboration we work together, hand in hand, with the community to create HOPE and build a better tomorrow.

A big thank you to Port Arthur LNG for their continued support of literacy in our community! Their team recently helped the restock Book Vending Machines project, preparing books with bookmarks and United Way stickers to encourage a love of reading among local students.

We also also proud to announce that Port Arthur LNG is our this years Literacy Champion Sponsor. Look for their logo book vending machines, bookmarks, and all things literacy throughout the 2026-27 year in recognition.

We are grateful for their ongoing partnership and commitment to putting more books into the hands and homes of local students and supporting literacy throughout our community!

Food insecurity doesn't retire, and for many seniors in our community, the noon meal at a senior center may be the most reliable meal of their day. 💙

That's why United Way of Mid & South Jefferson County created the Senior Shelf Project: a small food pantry at two local senior centers, providing shelf-stable items to seniors who join them for their noon meal. It's one more way we're making sure our older neighbors don't face hunger alone.

We're proud to announce that Woodside Energy has partnered with us to sponsor the Senior Shelf Project this year. With their support, we'll improve pantry storage at both centers and keep the shelves stocked, so seniors who count on that noon meal and the friendship that comes with it will have the extra support they need.

Thank you, Woodside Energy, for investing in the seniors of Mid & South Jefferson County. Good Food. Good Neighbors. Stronger Community.

Note: The Senior Shelf is available to clients of the senior centers, not a public food pantry.
