Our Center is inside the port facility and open for all mariners 24/7. If you need a break from your vessel, big or small, walk over. You will need some bug spray after all the rain we’ve had or the mosquitoes might carry you away. lol 😂

Locks are necessary to reach some parts of the port in Antwerpen, Belgium. Looks like a tight fit for BOW ORION.

When your vessel is daylight restricted, you might get an extra night to relax when you miss the cutoff for the pilot. These guys from the deck crew didn’t seem to mind. They have a very long journey facing them since they will go to Thailand to discharge by way of Cape Town South Africa. Vessels like theirs continue to avoid the red Sea area because of the ongoing conflicts which makes for longer voyages and more expense because of fuel groceries etc. They suspect their trip could take as few as 45 days but possibly more depending on the weather. Stay safe guys hope to see you again someday.

You may not realize it, but Calhoun County also has a maritime industry that supports a wide range of businesses and jobs, including ship pilots, ship crews, barge and tugboat crews, union workers, shipping stevedores, truck drivers, railroad workers, construction workers, administrative staffs and many more.

It's always great to see port authorities step up to help pave the way for future maritime workers. Now Galveston can be added to the growing list.
