Today, the Point Clear Rotary Club Disaster Response Team traveled to Burnt Corn, Alabama, to support our neighbors recovering from Hurricane Isaias.

With grills fired up and helping hands ready, our Rotarians prepared and served hot lunches to more than 250 people! 🍔

But today was about more than providing a meal. It was about showing up for our neighbors, offering encouragement, and reminding a community facing difficult circumstances that they are not alone.

We are grateful to have served alongside a wonderful network of community partners, including the Fairhope Rotary Club and Fairhope Sunset Rotary Club, who are helping bring much-needed support and supplies to Burnt Corn and the surrounding communities.

A special thank-you to our Point Clear Rotary Disaster Response Team for dedicating their time, energy, and resources to today’s mission.

When communities come together, incredible things happen. This is Rotary. This is Service Above Self. 💙💛

Yesterday the Pt. Clear Rotary Club was pleased to host Dr. Paul LeBlanc and Ileene Greene who brought us valuable information on Shepherd’s Place in Fairhope. Shepherd’s Place provides adult day respite for both individuals dealing with dementia issues and their caregivers.
We also received a report on the upcoming Taste of Rotary, set for November 1, 2026.

🚛💙 Point Clear Rotary is loaded up and headed to Burnt Corn, Alabama!

Our Disaster Response Team is hitting the road this morning to support communities impacted by Hurricane Isaias.

With supplies packed and our mobile kitchen ready to go, our Rotarians are preparing to serve 240 hot meals to individuals and families recovering from the storm. 🍔

While a warm meal may seem like a small gesture, we know that during difficult times, a little kindness and a helping hand can make a big difference.

We are incredibly grateful to our dedicated Rotarians who have volunteered their time, resources, and energy to make this outreach possible.

This is what Rotary is all about: neighbors helping neighbors, communities supporting communities, and putting Service Above Self into action.

This week, the Point Clear Rotary Club welcomes Dr. Paul LeBlanc, MD, for a presentation on Shepherd’s Place at Fairhope United Methodist Church.

Shepherd’s Place provides a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for adults living with Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s, stroke, or traumatic brain injury—giving caregivers valuable time to rest and attend to their own needs.

We look forward to learning more about this meaningful community resource and how it supports local families.

Service Above Self — Especially When Our Community Needs Us Most!

The Point Clear Rotary Club Disaster Response Team met today to discuss preparations and ways we can support our neighbors in the days ahead.

As our community prepares for Hurricane Isaias, our Rotarians are ready to step up, lend a helping hand, and put Service Above Self into action.

We are proud to serve the Eastern Shore and look forward to working together to support our community through whatever challenges lie ahead.

Dr. Andrea Tarnecki was our Guest Speaker. She heads up the Auburn Shellfish Laboratory which is based on Dauphin Island. She gave a great report on shellfish research and projects that work with our local oyster industry and which served up over 26 Million oysters in our area last year. Many thanks to Dr. Tarnecki
for the interesting and informative presentation!.

Our Disaster Response Team is actively monitoring conditions and preparing to assist our community if needed. Team members will be contacted directly by email or text once a response plan is finalized.

This trailer represents more than equipment—it represents Rotary’s commitment to being ready to serve our neighbors when they need us most.

We encourage everyone to stay weather-aware, monitor local emergency updates, and make preparations now while conditions allow.

🦪 From tiny oysters in the hatchery to a growing Gulf Coast industry!

Join the Point Clear Rotary Club as we welcome Dr. Andrea Tarnecki, Assistant Extension Professor and Director of the Auburn University Shellfish Laboratory on Dauphin Island.

Dr. Tarnecki will take us behind the scenes of the Shellfish Laboratory to explore how baby oysters are produced, how research supports local oyster farmers, and the science helping strengthen oyster aquaculture and seafood safety along the Gulf Coast.

We look forward to a fascinating conversation about research happening right here in our coastal community!
