🇺🇸 **POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony at American Legion Post 199** 🇺🇸

On Friday, September 18, American Legion Post 199, Fairhope AL gathered to honor and remember the brave men and women who were prisoners of war or remain missing in action.

The evening included a proper flag-retirement ceremony by burning, followed by an overnight vigil around the bonfire, where the names of POWs and MIAs from Alabama were read aloud. It was a meaningful night of reflection, remembrance, and gratitude for those who sacrificed so much for our freedom.

The evening also included Bike Night, sponsored by the Post 199 American Legion Riders, along with a CVMA®️ 28-8 Meet and Greet supporting their annual Horses for Heroes fundraising event.

Thank you to everyone who attended, participated, and helped keep the memory of our POWs and MIAs alive. You are not forgotten. 🇺🇸

Did you know the American Legion has four pillars? These pillars guide the organization's advocacy and service efforts for veterans, their families, and communities.

The four pillars of the American Legion are:
🫡 Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation
🔐 National Security
🇺🇸 Americanism
👦 Children & Youth

Monthly, your American Legion Post 199, Fairhope AL Eastern Shore Riders visit a local assisted living center and visit with veterans and families of veterans. This is a wonderful opportunity for your ALR to celebrate the Americanism pillar by sharing our stories and hearing those of our community. This month, we visited The Brennity in Daphne.

Craig “Critter” Brayer (Riders Director), Lynn “Lynnstagator” Brayer, their Great Pyrenees pups Tater and Petunia, Michael “Mojave” Wells (Sgt at Arms) and Leslie “Caretaker” Opsal (Road Captain) attended.

Your American Legion Post 199, Fairhope AL Eastern Shore Riders recently participated in the state of Alabama’s American Legion Riders POW/MIA Ride. Riders from around the state rode to various American Legions and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) to raise and lower a POW/MIA flag. This flag, transported over 2 days and 14 stops, was presented at the state capitol on Saturday during the Alabama State POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony.

Your Eastern Shore American Legion Riders from American Legion Post 199, spent the morning remembering the 25th Anniversary of 9/11 during our All Patriots Ride. 21 riders from local Legions along with riders from CVMA®️, Patriot Guard Riders and several other motorcycle enthusiasts enjoyed a *free* breakfast at 2 Shots In and a pleasant ride to the USS Alabama Battleship. Donations collected today will go towards several Veterans organizations in the local area to include Wreaths Across America, Warrior Legacy Ranch and the Vet Center at University of South Alabama. Huge thanks to 2 Shots In for once again supporting our Veterans within Baldwin County. 🫶🏽
