We know summer heat can drive up power bills, and we want to help ease that burden for our community. If you are a low-income resident needing assistance with your electric bill, join us for our special LIHEAP Cooling Season Walk-In Days!
Our team is ready and eager to assist as many families as possible. No appointments are needed for these two days, just walk in!

🗓 When: September 15 & 16, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm
📍 Where: 900 38th St N, Birmingham, AL 35222
📋 What to Bring (Required Checklist)

Because this is a walk-in event, lines may be long, so please be prepared to wait! To help our team process your application smoothly and quickly, you MUST bring all required documents with you.

Please double-check this list before heading over:
✅️ Original Social Security Cards: Required for everyone living in your household. (Copies will NOT be accepted).
✅️ Current Alabama Picture ID: For the head of household (and spouse, if applicable). Please check your expiration date before you come!
✅️ Current Unpaid Original Power Bill: Must be in the head of household or spouse’s name only. (If the bill is in your landlord's name, you must provide a rental agreement or letter).
✅️ Proof of Gross Income for the PREVIOUS MONTH: Required for ALL persons living in the household. This includes check stubs from employers, Social Security, SSI, pensions, unemployment, VA benefits, child support, TANF, child Social Security/SSI, or any other income source. (Note: Bank statements and NACOLG income will not be accepted).
✅️ Declaration of Household Income Form: Required for all household members ages 18 and older who had no income in the previous month.
✅️ Proof of Custody: Non-parental guardians must provide official documentation from the Court or DHR showing current permanent or temporary custody of children in the household.
✅️ Lease & Voucher (If Applicable): If you live in reduced-income housing (Public Housing, Section 8, or any income-based housing), you must bring your lease and housing choice voucher.

⚠️ Important Eligibility Note: This event is strictly for the LIHEAP Cooling Season. If you have already received utility assistance from our agency since May 2026, you are not eligible for this specific event.

Congratulations to our President & CEO, Mashonda Taylor, on being selected for Leadership Alabama’s Class ###VI! 🎉

This program brings together leaders from across the state to build meaningful relationships, deepen understanding of Alabama’s challenges and opportunities, and help shape a stronger future for our communities.

We are incredibly proud to see Mashonda continue to grow, lead, and make an impact beyond Woodlawn! 💙

💙💛 WHAT A WONDERFUL MORNING OF COMMUNITY, PARTNERSHIP & SERVICE! 💛💙

Mission 4 Mothers had an absolutely wonderful time partnering with Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Pratt City for today’s community giveaway!

We arrived with 84 care bags, and we left with ZERO! 🙌🏽 ALL 84 CARE BAGS WERE GIVEN OUT! Every diaper, every package of wipes, and every item we brought was placed into the hands of mothers and families in our community.

And THAT is what this mission is all about. 💙

A huge THANK YOU to Ms. Stevens, Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Pratt City, their Mission Ministry, and their volunteers for welcoming Mission 4 Mothers with such kindness. Everything was so well organized, and we truly appreciated the tables and tent they provided for us. That tent was definitely a blessing in this Alabama sun! ☀️😂

We also had the pleasure of meeting Isabella Ashley, LPC, NCC, and The Bloom Circle, which provides a supportive space for expectant mothers centered around connection, encouragement, reflection, growth, and mental wellness. We truly enjoyed getting to know Isabella and her wonderful assistant and learning more about the work they are doing for mothers in our community. 🌸

And I cannot forget my Mission 4 Mothers volunteers, Carol and Deidre! 💙💛 Thank you both for showing up, serving, helping, laughing, talking, and simply being there. I appreciate you both so much and I am grateful to have you as part of Mission 4 Mothers.

Today wasn’t just about handing out bags.

It was about community.
It was about partnership.
It was about organizations getting to know one another.
And most importantly, it was about serving families with love and dignity.

We laughed. We talked. We connected. We served. And we had a WONDERFUL time doing it.

📢 Updated Mission 4 Mothers Office Hours

To ensure each family receives the attention they deserve, Mission 4 Mothers serves clients by appointment only.

Appointments allow us to provide personalized assistance while maintaining a healthy balance for our staff and volunteers.

Our office hours are:

💙 Tuesdays: 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
💛 Thursdays: 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
💙 Every other Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Mission 4 Mothers First Annual Blessing Bag Distribution has been postponed.
