We know summer heat can drive up power bills, and we want to help ease that burden for our community. If you are a low-income resident needing assistance with your electric bill, join us for our special LIHEAP Cooling Season Walk-In Days!
Our team is ready and eager to assist as many families as possible. No appointments are needed for these two days, just walk in!

π What to Bring (Required Checklist)
Because this is a walk-in event, lines may be long, so please be prepared to wait! To help our team process your application smoothly and quickly, you MUST bring all required documents with you.
Please double-check this list before heading over:

οΈ Original Social Security Cards: Required for everyone living in your household. (Copies will NOT be accepted).

οΈ Current Alabama Picture ID: For the head of household (and spouse, if applicable). Please check your expiration date before you come!

οΈ Current Unpaid Original Power Bill: Must be in the head of household or spouseβs name only. (If the bill is in your landlord's name, you must provide a rental agreement or letter).

οΈ Proof of Gross Income for the PREVIOUS MONTH: Required for ALL persons living in the household. This includes check stubs from employers, Social Security, SSI, pensions, unemployment, VA benefits, child support, TANF, child Social Security/SSI, or any other income source. (Note: Bank statements and NACOLG income will not be accepted).

οΈ Declaration of Household Income Form: Required for all household members ages 18 and older who had no income in the previous month.

οΈ Proof of Custody: Non-parental guardians must provide official documentation from the Court or DHR showing current permanent or temporary custody of children in the household.

οΈ Lease & Voucher (If Applicable): If you live in reduced-income housing (Public Housing, Section 8, or any income-based housing), you must bring your lease and housing choice voucher.
β οΈ Important Eligibility Note: This event is strictly for the LIHEAP Cooling Season. If you have already received utility assistance from our agency since May 2026, you are not eligible for this specific event.
