The Rusk County Sheriff's Office needs your help!

RCSO Deputies were dispatched to the County Line Baptist Church on FM 1971 in South East Rusk County on the evening of Thursday, June 4th, 2026 in reference to a report of Criminal Mischief of a place of worship and Theft of Copper Materials. Information and photographs were gathered for a reported approximately 150 feet of 2 gauge copper wire and a large breaker junction box that were stolen. County Line Church holds significant historical value to the surrounding community. In recent years, however, the Church had fallen into disrepair. Over the last few weeks there have been several members of a volunteer group called the Texas Mission Builders that make repairs and help small country Churches like this one. This crime has halted their work and cost them several thousand dollars in materials that were purchased with donations from family and neighbors in the area.

RCSO is seeking the public’s help in identifying the person or persons responsible for these acts. Information gathered has led Investigators to believe that this crime occurred between 8:30 am and 3:00 pm on Thursday. There was a heavy rain that afternoon. RCSO Investigators are tracking down persons of interest.
